after the Khao kob cave dragon belly adventure, our driver brought us to an amazing park. Entering a village road, 2 huge ‘wooden” dragons appeared. Further in, there were more dragons. A closer look, the sculptures were made of taro wood (actually roots). There was no ticket counter, no welcoming salesperson. The signboards were mostly in Thai. There was a souvenir shop selling handicrafts and herbs. There were more than 70 dragons counted by the kids. Amazing place.
Kind of off the beaten path, but well worth a visit. As people removed the tharo roots and trees to make room for rubber and palm trees, a lot of the root systems and branches came to this park. We had the opportunity to visit with the man that created the park (near single handedly). The statues/ creations of dragons is pretty remarkable, plus the number of botanical species makes this a very cool place to see birds and butterflies. Birders – be sure to take your binocs! Entrance is free!
We visited this place after the Cave and I thought it was wonderful. The dragons are all made from the roots of the theptaro tree and are huge and very intricate.Free to visit and a lovely relaxing and calming place after the terrors of the cave!
In various places throughout the world there are some crazy places built by obsessive artists and this is one. ‘Though crazy, it is successful and a lovely park to explore and take photos. Wooden dragons – who would have thought!
This is an unusual place. There’s other things to do here. You can fees fish and there’s an OTOP store where you can buy souvenirs. A friendly Dalmatian also greeted us.
