  1. Wat Thaton is a very impressive temple due to its prominent hilltop position. But even more exciting is the spectacular panoramic view down toward the valley. As there might be some mist early in the morning you should visit this place later than 10 AM in order to have a good chance to enjoy a clear view.

  2. Saw many Wats and temples in Thailand and sure if you are in town stop by but compared to others nothing too special

  3. Got up early to purchase prepared food at the market, then took it up to give to the monks. Beautiful setting up on the hill.

  4. Don’t want to repeat all the info in other reviews, but this is a must-do if anywhere in the area. The huge thing at the top (temple/chedi/pagoda — don’t know what to call it) is like nothing I’ve ever seen in Thailand with awesome views to the mountains and the Kok River valley far below. Filled with statues, paintings, etc. Got a ride to the tope and walked down.

  5. As recommended by our driver Ping, we paid a visit there. It was almost an hour’s drive from Singha Park. When we got there, we hurriedly walked up the pagoda as it was already late in the afternoon. It was a huge pagoda where it housed many god idols for worship from many south east Asia countries. Paintings and Chinese caligraphies were being hanged on wall of the stairways that led to the top. I thought it was more museum than a pagoda. If not for the tight schedule of the day, we could spend a whole afternoon here. There was also nice view when looked down from the pagoda. We had panorama view of the Kok river, paddies and village….. How about watching sunrise or sunset there…… yes, next time….

  6. The temple was on the hill closed to Kok river. You have to drive carefully because of the slopy and narrow road. At the temple you can see a good view. There are many Buddha statues. It is good for making merit here.

  7. The Wat Thaton temple is located on the mountain overlooking the small rural village of Thaton, which is near Mai Ai and Fang. It has 9 levels which you can easily drive up the road to each level and then to the level 8. Level 9 is actually located on an adjacent mountain top which is also navigated by a small road. The temple appears rather old but has its own magnificence by its design and interior features. Once inside, you can walk up a spiraling ramp way to the top chamber which is the primary focal point of the building itself. There are also several circular rooms on several floor levels which contain many fantastic sculptures and artifacts!

  8. Wat Thaton is more than worth a visit. Located high above the village / area and here you also have a beautiful view. Temple itself is also more than worth a visit. It is actually also a place where instruction on Buddhism is also given. It is also a very quiet and peaceful location; virtually no tourists.

  9. One of the most beautiful Temples in Thailand An amazing view from the top of this mountain and a fantastic place to be visited Highly recommend a visit when traveling in this area in Thailand
