  1. this is a small museum and it’s like voming to someone living room. there are statues, inscriptions, and some other old artifacts here. this place is near Ya Mo monument

  2. This is probably Thailand’s smallest national museum and there are few informative labels. Some of the art is impressive, but unless you are an enthusiast, it’s probably better to visit one of the more modern national museums in another town.

  3. For a branch of the National Museum in one of the most important cities in the country, it receives very little attention. Presumably this is because of the many treasures that are found in Phimai. But every branch of the National Museum, even the smallest in Ban Kao, has its own hidden surprises, and that is certainly true of this one in Korat. The fine Khmer artefacts are to be expected, but there is also some very interesting Dvaravati stucco and Ayutthaya bronze, as well as some remarkable pre-historic pieces. Whenever I’ve been there, it’s been virtually empty – which means you can browse and dream to your heart’s content.

  4. Really nice place to visit if you want to know more about the history of Thailand.Price is low and you get real benedit for it.

  5. One room of artifacts for 50 bht/ person. Took about half an Hour and checked 🙂 If you have nothing to do and you are wandering there, just do it.

  6. Easy to find, near the old city, just across from the moats. It’s a small museum so it won’t take long to see it, and not too expensive. All National Museums I have seen in Thailand (about 6 so far) are worth visiting if you want to understand culture, people, prehistory and see historical art.

  7. Sculptures, storyboards, paintings, furnishings, textiles and related memorabilia take the patron on a short, but sweet journey through the story of Korat and the wider Isaan region of Thailand, put nicely on display here.

  8. A tiny museum with 2 small rooms ( and a storage room for beautiful pots and jars not accessible to visitors). The historical description of the sculptures and bronzes are far from accurate…the dating appears to have gone wrong. All artefacts were collected by a monk. You still pay 50 Bat per person. Some interesting Buddhas.

  9. A one roomed museum exhibiting the personal collection of a collector. The collection is eclectic, but is mainly pottery, bronze, Hindu statues and lots of statues of Buddha. Some of the Buddha statues are good quality. Probably the most interesting item is the and the urn of Thao Surinnari, the heroine of the city. IMHO, the items aren’t really good enough to carry the national label. Most of the descriptions are in Thai only, although there is an English leaflet for the highlights of the museum. There are QR codes for some of the items, but the ones I tried did not work. The museum was okay, I had plenty of time.
