  1. I would suggest going to learn and experience more of Ubon. It’s interesting to try and see the 2 color river. As others have mentioned, it is hard to always notice the 2 color’s, but they can be seen. It is also very interesting, because the river here divides Thailand and Laos. (I think borders are always interesting to be around cause you see how governments treat their borders and you get to see hard power enforced. Also, this is a good place to go with a gf and/or on a hot sunny day as you should get a nice breeze being on the boat.

  2. If nearby, this is worth seeing but it’s not worthing going out of your way to see it. Interesting to see the Mun River at its mouth.

  3. We drove across from Ubon today & visited the view point & surrounding area, it was interesting to see the confluence of the Mekong & Moon rivers. We were able to see a very distinct difference in the colours of the two rivers as they met. The area also has quite a few little shops & a very good coffee shop which are worth visiting. Couldn’t resist a picture with the lovely, friendly lady who owned one of the shops. We thought it was worth the drive out from Ubon to see.

  4. Not a must see but not bad at all. If you are in the neighborhood it is worth to stop here. No entry fee at the river view points and there are many places for parking. You can see how the Mun river meets the Mekong river and depending on the time of the day and light conditions the river has really two color.Nice enviroment, calmness.

  5. It’s hard to get two colors where the two rivers meet at the easternmost village of Thailand near Laos… when both the Mekong and Moon rivers have little water. 😢 There was this little for us to see in February so we recommend that you pick a better time of the year to go…

  6. I was not able to see the 2 colours.Guess you need to visit during April to see it.Best of luck. View point is free entry so no problems there

  7. Both rivers were blue when I visited, giving a nice view of one, blue, river 😆. Lots of people were taking pictures of it anyway.

  8. It’s nearly June and the 2 colors are back.maybe the opposite of expected. The Mekong has been called the blue Mekong lately due to the lack of waterflow caused by Chinese dams and dry weather Meanwhile some rain has hit Ubon and the Moon river is darker. It’s not dramatic but there is a distinct line as my photo shows. The lookout is interesting enough itself because its next to Wat Khong Chiam. A must see if in Khong Chiam.

  9. You need sharper eyes than mine, or a greater imagination, to discern the two colors of the Mun and Mekong rivers as they merge at this spot. I’m sure there must be some times of the year when the two colors are more evident, but all were brown to my eyes.

  10. This is just another view point over the muddy Mekong River. If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. Guess the lighting has to just right to see the colors. Entry is a bit confusing, as GPS sends you inside a Wat, which it often incorrectly does, but in this instance that’s where you go. Park inside the Wat and walk towards the river. There’s a promenade that wraps around the point, with a few benches for sitting. As you walk west along the Mekong, you will encounter a handful of restaurants and cafes, all of which looked abandoned the day of my visit.
