  1. a very big temple with its layered roof and there are 2 dragons at the entrance to the temple. on the side of the temple they have massage place conducted by their staff. the temple is clean and well kept.

  2. This temple was not on our tour walk, we came across it when visiting the night market. I was intrigued as there was plenty of commercial activity within the grounds, stalls with merchandise and foodstuffs. A long room by the side of the temple was offering both Thai massage and foot massage. Went for a walk the following morning after breakfast, the stalls had gone but the massage area was being prepared for the day. The entry door was closed on both occasions. I guess maintenance costs have to be resolved in practical ways. Worth a look if passing.

  3. It’s one of the Buddhist temples built during the reign of the Mang Rai dynasty.Wat Sumpow (or Wat Sam Pao or Wat Samphao) has ornaments shaped like ships on the top of the columns of its entrance  The name of the temple “สำเภา” indicates a junk. According to legend, the merchants of the city of Rift. (present-day Tak province), believing in Buddhism, built a golden junk in a chedi on the grounds of the temple. Hence the origin of the name: Wat Samphao This temple is an excellent example of Lanna’s architecture ..Really incredible You can also get a traditional Thai massage here

  4. It is a nautical themed Buddhist temple which is very unusual for a land locked province. You can see lions, snakes and dragons here. It is a typical Thai temple with Burmese touches. There is a massage parlour in it too. My husband and daughter got traditional massage from here. The atmosphere is very tranquil.

  5. Chiang mai has a lot of buddha temples and they all are very close to each other. While walking through the sunday night bazaar i visited 3 temples and this was one of them. Crowded on Sundays specially because of the market.

  6. In old Chiang Mai and new Chiang Mai there are just so many temples. Wat Sum Pow is in the old city and is not as flashy as some of the others but it still has great buildings and grounds.

  7. Outstanding massages! We tried traditional Thai massage, feet massage, and oil massages, and they were all wonderful, and reasonably priced. Boa was my masseuse all four days and I highly recommend her.

  8. So if you didn’t know….many of the bricks, I mean beds, in Thailand are like stone. I’ve slept horribly while here. I’ve always considered Thai massage rough and unrelaxing. Boy was I wrong!I found myself at Wat Sum Pow and let me tell you. This older woman, touched, thumped, rolled, stretched, cracked, and popped and got me back together. One of the most amazing and therapeutic massages I’ve ever enjoyed. Seriously, if we had access to this in the US, I think we’d put chiropractors out of business. And at the rate of 140 busy (approx. 5$USD), you can get 1 a day. Enjoy!

  9. The massage staff here love to cheat customers.1. They will ask u to pay extra which did not ask for extra massage2. They will give u less time of massage3 they will just put their hands and relax on your body for long timeAdvice dont go there and support them as they behave like evils

  10. …which will not take long to explore but I feel I need to award 5* for the quite extraordinary detail on the dragon design straddling the staircase. Maybe the most beautiful I have ever seen in fact!
