  1. Wat Nong Kae is a monastery in Hua Hin, near the main street and almost impossible to miss. It’s nothing unusual, but when you’re in the area – hop by and look at the beautiful buildings. But be aware of the dogs there, though they are not really aggressive, simply cautious of possible intruders.

  2. There is a festival here in March that brings a neat market with it. Plenty of local treats — mostly for local people. The peanut crackers are my favorite here — they are as good as anywhere in Thailand, and prepared by locals. Feel adventurous? Then try some stir-fried insects! Yes, plenty of them here. There are numerous stalls with cheap t-shirts and other items for sale, but I would say the night market down town has a bit more to offer.

  3. The temple is on top of the mountain, there are places to park the car when you arrive before you start the steep walk up the stairs to the temple. When you arrive make sure you have the windows on your car closed as there are a lot of wild monkeys around, we had one window down and a monkey jumped inside the car and took a packet of shells we had bought at the beach and then he was off again, when he realised it was not food he dropped the packet and went, they will try and steal things from you, especially if you have any drinks as they love soft drinks so hold onto your drinks. If you want to just go and look it is free to climb the stairs, if you wish to pray then you can buy candles and items to pray with so you can take up with you to the temple. Most people buy some items to pray with as the money goes to the upkeep of the temple, or you may just wish to place some money in the box to help the Monks with the upkeep. The climb up the stairs is very steep so there is no need to rush, when you get to the top you have a lovely view of Hua Hin, you can look up the coast at the lovely sandy beaches and the high-rise apartments.Make sure you dress for the temple, so no shorts or tank tops for the women, you can wear them as long as you bring something to cover yourself with, otherwise they will supply you with a cover next to the stairs. The Temple and bells at the top are very lovely, you should take off your shoes and go inside the Temple to get the real feel of the Temple also there is a Monk there to give you a blessing, you can then walk around the temple and ring all the bells as they provide heavy sticks to hit the bells with.On your way up and down the stairs you will see wild monkeys, remember they are wild so do not try and pat them or go near them as they will bite, if you leave them alone they will leave you alone. When you are in Hua Hin you should make time to see the temple as the view is stunning and on the way out from the Temple you can stop at the seafood market and buy freshly caught seafood. We would go back again to the Temple just for the view alone, so put it on your list of places to visit in Hua Hin.

  4. Thailand has lots of Wats! This is striking for its location on a promontory at the end of the beach.Good size Buddha too, which you can stand underneath and be towered over. Local monkeys hang out here too and are fed.A pleasant place to visit when ambling along the beach!

  5. …a bit tore-up. Pretty much across the road from the Cicada Market. Looks like a work in progress with not much progress going on. A few interesting structures and statues to see here. They were moving this one Buddha with some kind of pulley that looked like the Buddha had a noose around his neck. I found it disturbing. I would never give a Buddhist less than a “very good” rating.

  6. Near the Ibis Hua Hin hotel on the other side of the busy main road during the day is the Buddhist temple complex Wat Nong Kae, which is interesting due to its impressive entrance gate. The temple complex is relatively large. However, there are few Buddhist altars or sights here, although quite a lot of Buddhist monks live here.I visited the complex in the early afternoon, when few monks were around. Due to the humidity that day, it was not a pleasant visit, but rather a strenuous one.Interestingly, you can fill up cars and motorcycles on the street by the entrance gate, and at night the front of the temple complex can be used as a parking lot. The main gate is open from 5:30 a.m. to around 11 p.m.

  7. Lovely peaceful buddha temple..clean well maintained temple..not to busy easy to visit easy access…spacious inside temple..

  8. Clean, well maintained and quiet temple, not too crowded and spacious. Unfortunately, but it happens often now, the temple was closed and therefore it was not possible to enter to see the interior.
