Awesome experience! Ladies wear jeans and a t shirt or something comfy. Also buy front row or ring side tickets the seats are really comfortable all the other seats are like bleachers Not bloody or gruesome just great fights even women fought
I expected a stadium that was kitted out with a thousand people. When we entered, I felt like I was in a scene with Rocky I. It was smaller than I expected and very ‘basic’. The VIP area had ringside perfect view and you sit in sofas that look like they were taken from your granny’s house. That didn’t seem to matter because we were there for the boxing. The boxing was somewhat of a spiritual experience, which was quite unexpected…The two fighters come on and do a ritual, with their special headgear, and shorts. It was an absolute beauty to watch – I was mesmerised with the way they prepare themselves in the ring with a certain music playing whilst they do. When you look beyond the ring you notice the old school style betting, with people shouting out and notes in their hands. I was taken aback at the young boys that started the boxing – I couldn’t believe they start from such a young age – my heart went slightly mushy…After the first couple fights, I was totally taken in by one of the young boy boxers and followed him and his family backstage – he had such a sweet face and he conducted himself so gracefully throughout – i know, the irony… – and I gave him some baht – he was blown away and so was his family. It wasn’t loads of cash – one would of thought I’d given him a new sponsor deal – but thats the Thai people for you – humble, beautiful and grateful – I took a pic with this boxer and it continued to watch right until the big guys came on. There was a knockout and I felt it! Great experience, its like a religion. Some fighters who lost were given a few smacks by their trainers/father/uncle backstage and instructed to do pushups etc…I was shocked but again, this is a serious matter in Thailand and its a way of living and life.
Better take sits on upper stage – so that you see all! Be carefull, agents do not sell this places. You can buy beer just on the entrance to the stadium. Secured parking for your bikes.
this is a must see i have seen fights and tyrainign sessions on tv but nothing like this i n real life! I was gobsmacked and loved every minute of it!
Real fight every week inexpensive, this gym now has many Thai and also a lot of fighter from Australia, and Europian training and fighting to show what the real art of using every part of your body for fighting, you can book to see the fight from tour agent
The worsest place and we paid for it :(It s a fake show, just to take your moneyDo not go. It s much better to stay at hotel and rest, or whatever…than to go there
Well worth a look at the national fighting sport called Mauy Thai Boxing some great fighters the odd scam going on there but worth a look
Really enjoyed attending Thai Boxing. Entertaining and skillful. Interesting watching the different level of abilities of both female and male boxers. Amazed when a boxer knocked out their opponent with one kick. Well controlled and organised.
We had been to Lumpini in Bangkok a few times and hence came with relatively low expectations – that were easily surpassed! High quality fights and international fighters (e.g., Ukraine, Brazil, Russia), all presented in a modern stadium with great service and a thrilling atmosphere. Would definitely recommend the VIP option with seats right next to the ringside, well worth it. If you stay after the last fight, you will see the fighters casually going home and can have an informal chat with them. Overall great experience, we are going again in a few days!
