  1. another one of the must see temples when in Dan Sai, Loei province. off the beaten path but if you have a car or a local friend, definitely check it out….

  2. We were travelling through Dansai and my wife (Thai) really wanted to visit. We pulled up, she put on some trousers but when walking up to the wat entrance was told that wearing red (shirt) she couldn’t enter. She wasn’t familiar with this restriction and wasn’t happy about it so she wished to leave. Sadly we didn’t get to visit.

  3. This old Buddism Temple is located in the green bushy small mountains in Loei Province. It´s a small but beautiful temple , dating back 2-300 years. It´s sad that nobody relly come here. The area is nice and the surrondings are stunning. It´s a good place to stop and rest your legs if you are on the road to Loei or from Loei City. Also there are food stalls near with local food at small prices.

  4. A place to visit when you are in Dansai, Loei. If you plan to drop by, do not dress in any shades of red color. Else you will need to change your cloth before entering. The legend said the Phra That (the Buddha Relic Stupa) was built as a promise between two nations to never ever going into war with each other. Hence the red (the color of blood) is not allowed inside the sanctuary.

  5. This small historic Buddhist site is well worth a visit, starting with the very impressive white staircase leading up the the site. Here one finds primarily locals and only few western visitors. The very impressive local plants (such as massive palm trees) are an additional feature worth looking for.

  6. This is a beautiful temple but very busy on weekends, better a visit on early morning before 10.00 a.m. Well worth a visit.

  7. (The seaside photo is wrong here! Dansai is in the mountains.)Definitely a place worth stopping in otherwise quiet Dansai. We were there on a full moon, and they were preparing for a special ritual. The chedi is Lao style as I was told, inside the next door building there’s a special golden (Naga) Buddha statue.Excellent toilets on the grounds.
