  1. We got a bus from the main tourist area to the centre.Lots to look at. The centre itself is very interesting, easy to follow for English speakers and nicely air conditioned! Definitely worth a trip when in Phitsanulok.

  2. A bit off track and really quiet complex. My suggestion would be to start your visit of Phitsanulok from here. The museum gives you a good overview of the city, it’s history and it’s architecture. It can also help you to decide what attractions to check out while in town. The park itself can get hot and when I visited there were just few street vendors, so better to take water and done food with you, especially on a hot day.

  3. In the garden you can find some old temple ruins. The main building houses a small museum. Information in English provided next to the exhibits.

  4. This is a relatively new museum (the last time I was in Phitsanulok in 2013, the museum did not exist) that features both permanent and temporary exhibits. It is a great place to learn about Phitsanulok’s history, see artwork/artifacts from the Royal Chan Palace and understand the importance of King Naresuan the Great in shaping the region. Several exhibits are interactive. Signage is excellent – in both Thai and English. It is located on the grounds of the former Chan Palace where recently excavated ruins can be toured on foot or on bicycle. There are several reproductions of Thai homes on the property as well as the shrine to King Naresuan. It is located along the Nan River, across from Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat. Cost to enter is free. Allow two hours for both the museum and the ruins.

  5. … as the Museum nicely presents the historic milestones of Phitsanulok, the story of King Naresuan, as well as excavation sites around. Explanations are bi-lingual, for the time bein entry fee is waived.Good start for getting an idea of what Phitsanulok was and is.

  6. History of Siam can be quite confusing; but this museum summarises the history of the region in an interesting and understandable way. Entrance is free. I highly recommend to visit the museum prior to the historic park.

  7. This is a large area which is outlined by original low brick walls, but now new buildings have been added, which many may not think is in keeping with an open important historical site.

  8. …I wasn’t able to go inside. Did get to walk the grounds and saw good things. Looks like an archaeological site here with stone ruins and a large buddha. Have a monument for King Narusen I believe his name is. Looks like a nice peaceful place to walk around, except it was raining when I was there.

  9. A friend’s student took us here and we were accompanied by a very enthusiastic volunteer tour guide who clearly is passionate about the history of Phitsanulok and Thailand. This is a well curated museum with both Thai and English information boards. Thank you for sharing this with us.

  10. Friendly, casual vibe at this compact museum in the heart of Phitsanulok.. Interactive displays, statues, photography, artwork, storyboards and various historical artifacts .. Ample car parking, free entry, light and breezy throughout.. A great way to lean a little bit more about the area, whilst you are in town.. Highly recommended for short visit and I will be back. ✔️
