This is a place to visit for spirituality and to meet a meditation master. My atheist mate said that Leung Por Gunhah was the most serene person he had ever met in his life. You can visit for one hour or stay for days in free accommodation (modern rooms with en-suites including the daily morning meal – of course, you need to muck-in and help around the monastery with daily chores). You can participate in normal monastery life, or not, starting with 0400 chanting and meditation. Nothing is compulsory. Ajahn TeeLor is a German monk who speaks English and is also an excellent monk with whom to chew-the-fat about life and meditation. There is a lovely family Thai restaurant, with English menu, on the main road very near to the road to the monastery, about 300 metres towards Khao Yai. This monastery is for people who want to relax, meditate and breathe in the nature from mountains. I have been coming here for years – very few foreigners travel here but Leung Por Gunhah is someone so special. I live in Bangkok with my Thai wife of 22 years and am often driving all over Thailand (No.1 tour guide for my family/friends/visitors) but this is the most spiritual place in the country, in my opinion.
