  1. Eventually found it with the help of some locals !Googles directions are wrong.Steep inclines, many steps and loads of bells !!No water in waterfall !!!Not many people, so did not have to stand in line to climb the steps !!Very peaceful as well as naturally and stunningly beautiful.Expect a ‘ work out ‘ to see it all.Not ideal for children or those not able bodied enough to walk, walk and walk some more!!!!

  2. Its a mountain on an ancient volcano with some interesting temples and a huge Buddha. The people working there were very polite and helpful.

  3. Phanom Sawai Forest Park, about 25 km from Surin on the Prasart Highway, is hard to define. It is an eclectic mix of natural nature trails, botanical gardens, ponds and water features, and a curious mix of ancient and new Buddhist and Hindu religious temples, shrines and oddities.Oddities, I hear you say! Go look at what is billed as the “Sacred Turtle Rock”. You need a lot of imagination and expertise in pareidolia to see a turtle in this misshapen rock, surrounded by the litter of broken bottles and the plastic remains of lakeside picnics. There is a camping ground, but I did not see any campers. I did see three Thais feeding koi in a large pond dominated by a cement “Naga” (mythical serpent) bordering one end.I was also disappointed in the cleanliness and general upkeep of the park. Admittedly it was the dry season, but the whole area looked tired and grubby.I will not be hurrying back on my next visit to Surin.

  4. Fortunately we went here on a pretty cool day. There’s lots of stairs here so it’s not suitable for the less able. To be honest it’s just okay, there’s a Buddha, another Buddha and lots of bells, the view at the top of the climb is….well just okay really.

  5. It is off the beaten track so be prepared for that however it is well worth the trip. Many temples and a Big Buddha are wonderful to see and their is a nature walk as well. Was a great place to put a drone up and get some nice photos also. I wouldn’t recommend the nature walk on a really hot day unless you have lots of drinking water but if you are a keen bush walker then you will enjoy it.

  6. There were several temples in this area and we could walk from one to the other. There are some stairs and a bit of climbing is required, so be aware of it, but it was worth it. Very different experience! All visiting spots had different styles. I would not say it was very peaceful as it was quite crowded, but it was entertaining. Plan enough time to walk everywhere!

  7. Nice place to come You can come every day. You can pray for Buddha, you can watch sun set, there are a big Buddha and many bell ring between the to go big Buddha

  8. It’s not far from town and I didn’t really see much that would entice me back. It was a really hot day so it was an effort to get out of the car. I’ve been to these sort of places during certain religious holidays and I’m sure it would be more interesting on such days.

  9. Don’t go expecting wild nature and interesting hikes. Instead, the park is basically a selection of Buddha statues on small hills around the main temple. They’re interesting statues and there are some remarkable sights, but it’s perhaps not a place I’d travel from overseas to visit. However, after months living in Bangkok, the fresh air and change of scenery is very welcome so, in that regard, it’s worth the visit.

  10. Love this place, easy hike up the stairs. Good place to say a few words to your celestial overlord, old volcanic Hill, even saw some bamboo and a cat.
