Walking, jogging or cycling around this beautiful small island park in Tapi River is really a breath of fresh air, good tracks with AED equipment and universal design concern Location: *****across the bridge from the city center, then across another small bridge to the island, easily accessible by private car, public transport or 700 m. walk Universal design: ***** clearly visible disabled parking, easily accessible by a wheelchair in most area, clearly visible disabled toilet with handrailsCleanness: ****in general, the place and the toilets are well kept clean with good maintenanceSafety: **** bike tracks are separated from walking/jogging tracks, separated car zone, AED equipment is clearly shown, safety and securities in all area with a security guard at the entrance
I like to go for a brisk walk mornings and evenings and as this park was close to my hotel I gave it a go.It is pretty, with some very nice views(photo attached wa it.It seems to be a park ths taken during one of my mornings walks.Beware that it is pretty popular and there quite a few health conscious people usingat the local schools use and as such it was very busy on one of the afternoons that I visited.
Lamphu island is in the Tapi River in the centre of Suratthani. It is accessed by crossing the river via the main road bridge( brightly illuminated at night) from near the City Pillar shrine. Once over the bridge, turn left and you will soon come to the entrance to the island where the road( beware of cars and motorbikes particularly in the evening) crosses another, smaller bridge on to the island. On the island are many different sports facilities so you can walk, run, cycle, use apparatus or play ball or racket games. All in all, the equipment is kept in pretty good condition.There will be several food stalls particularly at the entrance, toilets and places to relax. There is a sizeable car park. Most areas can be accessed by wheel chairs.It is very popular with the locals and can get quite busy particularly in the evening when it’s cooler. No charge for admission even for foreigners! Good facility if you’re near the river in town.
Need to walk more than you already do? Go for it! Nice comfortable walk around this small island. Best to do it in the morning or late afternoon. There will be more people there than during the mid-day but still nice either way. Small roadside food vendors before you enter. There is no charge to visit the park.
Cute little park, located on an island in the river. Nice place for a jog or a stroll. I walked all the way around in about 20 minutes. Peaceful there, with just the sounds of birds calling, until a long tail boat comes by, that is. Wow, they are noisy! But the park itself is clean and well maintained. Exercise equipment looks shiny and new. Two toilet blocks within the park.
I’ve been I. Suratthani for more than 10 years and it’s absolutely a shame that the municipality of Suratthani hasn’t spent any money for a playground.The park is beautiful the location is great but the municipality is not taking care of the future of this city….There’s nothing to do for young kids.
