Wat Phothawas is one of the oldest temples in Surat Thani, built in the reign of King Rama I 2330 B.E. (A.D. 1787) .The ancient architecture in the temple which is remaining at the present time are 2 beautiful pagodas behind the Buddhist sanctuary. This temple is located on Wat Pho – Nai Luk Road which far from Wat Phothawas intersection about 500 meters. There is a canal behind the temple.The reasons why there are a lot of people visit the temple are; 1) to pay the respect to the image of venerable monk “Luang Phor Klom”.who was the past abbot of this temple and very famous for practicing the dharma in the south of Thailand. 2) Offering dedicated to Buddhist monks 3) Admire the long racing boat.
