  1. The old Trees easy walking from the road just 2 minuets and same way to waterfall Huang Nam Keaw very nice place ??

  2. this is our first time in Ko Kut and it very good experienced. We love the natural but also have some civilization (if you know what I mean). We were riding the motor-bike to The Old Tree. We even meant the local guide tour the dog with is so cute. He ran in front of us like he said follow me I will took you to The Old Tree.

  3. The great appeal of Ko Kut is that most of it is still covered with virgin tropical rain forest, with trees, vines, and undergrowth so thick it is impossible to walk through it.Two trees in particular are revered by the islands, who say they are anywhere from 500 to 700 years old. However old they are, they are massive and standing at the base of the trees you cannot see the tops. There are gravel roads leading to the two “Makka” trees, as they are called, with a short walk along a pathway through the rain forest to reach them.

  4. We visited the old tree as part of a morning tour of Koh Kut and we were luckily the only visitors at the time. Our guide firstly said a small prayer to the spirit who lived within the tree and we then spent ten minutes wandering around the base with its huge roots and various types of offerings which had been placed amongst the branches, including a set of male and female clothes.Worth a stop.

  5. Just to co clarify a few things. This tree is a tamarind tree – in Thai it is called Makham Yak, which is also what is written on road signs leading to the tree. Makham is tamarind and yak is a Thai mythical creature similar to a giant troll. Although it may sound romantic, it is not true that Koh Kood is covered by ancient jungle. Most of the island is covered by (old) rubber trees and plans are under development for these trees to be cut down (and replaced with new, higher-yielding trees) and transported to the mainland for conversion to para-wood lumber for export to China. .

  6. On the way to Huang Nam Keaw waterfall, we stopped in the middle of the forest to see this big old tree which looked hundreds of years old. A very beautiful and serene place, the only sound are the leaves ruffling in the winds and birds chirping. It can be a little eerie but in a good way. The trees are a little difficult to locate but if you go with a local, he will surely take you. One clue of locating it is – look for the signboard which shows the way of Huang Nam Keaw Waterfall – the path to reach the tree is just beside.

  7. As expected, old and big. Worth a stop on the way to the waterfalls. The tree is located a short walk into the jungle.

  8. These trees are beautiful and worth a visit. We hired bikes (as we did on all the islands – best way to get around by far), and went to visit them on the way to the Huang Nam Kaew waterfall. So it makes a nice few hours exploring if you visit both. The trees are quite breathtaking. The roots are enormous. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Ko Kut (watch out for snakes on the floor – we came across one feasting on a lizard!!)

  9. When going to Ko Kut make sure you find these amazing trees in the island jungle. We just asked few people and happily had a chance to admire them.

  10. There is not too many things to see on Koh Kuud… so an easy drive into the forest or jungle to see a huge tree is something you need to tick off on your list. The driver told us it’s 500 years old. And it is impressive and intriguing to think what the tree must have ‘seen’ these many years. The tree is next to the dirt road where you park… easy access.
