Dropped by while on our way home after 3 nights stay in Hat Yai last Friday. It was mid afternoon and the school band next door was practising. Didn’t get to meet the parish priest, Fr John. Took some pictures of the Christmas crib and prayed at the grotto.
it is located in the middle of thamma nun vithi road. it is after the river and by the side of the school. it is well maintained. Nice to have a church right in the heart of hatyai.
A thriving Catholic community in the tourist city of HatYai. It’s a good place to visitafter days of working or travelling. Priests are kind and friendly as well. There’s noother place in town like the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.
I attended a friend’s wedding there just last two months thereabout. It is small enough for anyone to go.
This large Church is located quite centrally… beside the Catholic (private) school. While the Sunday services are conducted mainly in Thai– this merely adds to its appeal/uniqueness!! The interior of the church has many interesting paintings and “murals”– while outside there is a “Grotto”– hence the name linkage with its French counterpart!
Nothing too exciting about this modern concrete church near the centre of Hat Yai. If you’ve seen churches in other places then you’re unlikely to be too impressed by this one. A quick walk past should suffice for most people, but it’s probably not worth visiting at all unless you’re already close by.
Come on Satuday at 1830 for English service. Other services are delivered in Thai language. The building is easy to find in down town area. Nice, clean and peaceful.
The only Catholic church in the town. The warden was kind enough to open the church door for our group to have a quiet prayer time. Nothing really attractive for those who do not profess the Catholic faith but for us, it was something else.
