Koh Rat is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 84220, Thailand
Koh Rat is a very small island connected to the mainland at Donsak by a road bridge which is basically single track road. The main difficulty with Koh Rat is parking. The first time we visited, there was nowhere to park but we were successful on our second visit…but only just! The island is known for the fish caught locally, much of which is dried and packets of various dried fish can be bought at very reasonable prices. There are some good photo opportunities. There is also an interesting Chinese Buddhist temple which is worth visiting. You don’t have to spend much time here but if you are in the area, do visit and support the local fishermen and women.
Koh Rat is a small island near Donsak town and is joined to the mainland by a single track bridge. It’s very difficult to park on the island but there is a car park on the mainland by the bridge. For 10 baht per person, a motor cycle tuk tuk is available. The island is the home of the local fishing long tail boats. Immediately you reach the island, there sure stalls selling packs of various dried fish all at reasonable prices. The best way of seeing the island is to walk around it…allow 15-20 minutes. You get good views of the coast and the houses of the local fishermen. It’s an interesting place to visit and much more worth while than some of the more touristy places.
Hear is a fisherman village, small island, nice view, fresh sea food, if you look for resting place quiet and peaceful I would recommend hear…. Phoo Yai Peag homestay.
Small island to walk around and having some lunch break or a bite in-between your resting time. Good to support local with dry seafood fresh and low prices. Quiet and tidy. Just to take note, the car park space on the island would be a challenge. Other wise will be another spot to visit. Could be an ideal for staycation as well. As can see the family and group are convinced with the room and package on stay. For us this time only there for a lunch break and little walk around.
