  1. A beautiful artistic well made Wat. It is worth taking the trouble to visit. There are various well designed sculptures. The number of old well preserved trees are unusual, are cannot be seen elsewhere. This is a Wat with a difference.A nice coffee shop is in the premises and I feel this is one place worth visiting.Only 25 km or 40 minutes from the main crossroad of Sakhon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom and Udon Thani. The road for the most part is , motorable.Don’t miss it.

  2. From the ‘song taew’ shuttle ride up to almost the top of the hill, to the varied and lovely flora and fauna, the mastery of the wood carvings, and the serenity yet vitality of the whole complex. Superb views, with the Nong Han lake in the distance. A must see visit when in Sakon Nakhon Province.

  3. Only the 2nd best thing to do in Sakon Nakhon? No way! This should be listed as one of the most spectacular sites in ALL OF THAILAND!!!Truly, this unbelievably beautiful mountain temple totally blew me away. Every corner you turn is a great view, or sculpture, or intricately carved piece of wood. There’s also a short but strenuous hike you can do here to the top of the mountain which is easy to miss, so don’t miss that. There are also a lot of other things to do. And a coffee shop with good coffee (although if you want more than a little snack, you’re advised to bring it with you). This is a very popular place for Thai families to come particularly on weekends, and unless you’re with a tour, you pretty much do need a car to get here (it’s about a 20 minute drive from the city). There’s a big parking lot and it’s free but you pay 20 baht for a ride back and forth from there to the temple (about 10 minutes each way). Even when it’s very crowded this service is very orderly and well run. There are also many clothing stores on the road leading up to the temple. They are substantially cheaper than the textile market in the middle of the city. There are also some cute coffee shops on the way to/from town.

  4. It isn’t possible to drive right up to the temple and gardens. A car park is provided some way down the mountain and for a small fee a taxi truck (Song taew) transports visitors to the top.The car park is very very dusty and little shade is available.Once at the top it is just a case of walking and viewing the marvellous garden areas with a few waterfalls. The woodwork is stunning. Beautifully maintained tree trunks and branches that are on display in and around the temple buildings.Apparently this wood was donated to this temple by the Thai government after it was seized many years ago, having been stopped from being illegally exported from Thailand. There are a couple of coffee bars within the gardens but there is very little food available – just a few basic snacks. It is an ideallic place for many. General access is good with firm walkways but but due to the number of steps wheelchairs and unstable walkers might choose to give this place a miss. There are wheelchairs available for use during your visit but access to some areas are not possible.

  5. I’m not really into Buddhism much as it seems to revolve about money, even a little more blatantly than Christendom. I’ve seen dozens of temples and was totally blown away by this one. Sure the money aspect was evident, but there was no admission fee and if you didn’t want to put your hand in your pocket you didn’t have to. The building construction was fascinating to me, using old gnarled trees as the supports and they looked amazing. The landscaping was more impressive than I’ve seen at any other temple. Although it was a bit smokey the view was still impressive. From the aspect of a place to meditate and enjoy nature at its best this place ranks right up at the top. Images carved into the rocks were both life size and bigger and the details were amazing. This place really made me appreciate the skills of many of the workers. If you’re going anywhere near Isaan I would recommend this place without hesitation. I was tired after my long drive, but I would say this was one of the nicest temple locations I have seen.

  6. The temple is set in the mountains about 20-25 minutes drive from Sakon Nakon city centre. Well sign posted on the roads. On arrival we had to park about 2 kilometres from the temple and were checked for temperature etc [ covid-19] and then transferred by sawtel [ local taxi] to the Temple. The gardens are wonderful and the setting in the trees and side of the mountain made it a very enjoyable visit. A lot of the Gardens closed off due to the Covid social distancing rules.

  7. The gardens – perfectly maintained are a real joy. The oddity of a guilded rock with a chedi on top, the use of many huge and ancient tree trunks. A decent cafe too. There is a shuttle bus up to the site itself taking the two-kilometer ride through the mountain forest costing 20 baht. But the crowds at the car park meant an hour’s queuing where social distances were certainly not maintained but at least efforts were made to control temperatures. Well worth the visit but avoid any Buddhist festivals.

  8. Today, July 14, we went here with a rented car, parked in the parking lot and used the shuttle bus to there for 20 baht. It was very beautiful, green, nice atmosphere and different. If it’s on your way, I suggest you check it out, it’s really worth it

  9. We stopped of there on the way to nakhon phamon big free car park at the bottom to leave your car.little open taxi takes you up 20bt return.there are many buddha to visit and lovely gardens.great views good for photos.has a nice cafe to sit and toilets.very peacefull.we spent about 2hrs up there well worth a visit.

  10. Great temple. Absolutely spectacular scenery and amazing workmanship. Very clean grounds and friendly staff. Being a temple it is obviously a very spiritual place. Highly recommended. NB: try early morning to avoid the crowds.
