Moulin Rose Carabet Show is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 11 Soi Crocodile, Bangla Road 83150, Thailand
Am writing this review as I had much difficulty trying to locate the Moulin Rose Carabet show in Patong, Phuket. This was because it’s location was shown incorrectly on Googlemaps, and also, there is no Tripadvisor page for the Moulin Rose Carabet show as of now, even though it is highly raved about in the Tripadvisor forums.Hoping Tripadvisor will make a review page solely for this attraction soon.This carabet show is located at the end of Soi Crocodile. However, Soi Crocodile is NOT visible on googlemaps. Googlemaps also lists Moulin Rose as being along Thanon Bangla Street, but it is not – it is at the end of Soi Crocodile, which is a small, missable branch off Bangla St.Soi Crocodile is actually not a real street per-say, but a long area lined with tables and of course the usual sights of nightlife in Phuket. The entrance to this Soi Crocodile area lined with many tables is on the RIGHT side of the Aussie Bar along Bangla St. Glance up towards the top of the buildings and you can see the Soi Crocodile signage on the right of the Aussie Bar, unless it is covered by the banner, which at this moment on Googlemaps (Sep 2015) it is. This was why we couldnt find the street – Soi Crocodile was not listed on googlemaps, the Moulin Rose location itself was wrong on googlemaps, and we didnt glance upwards toward the signages at the top of the buildings.As of Sep 2015, the entrance to Soi Crocodile is marked by the “Happy Night Bar”. Walk right to the end of this line of tables along the area and you will be able to spot Moulin Rose carabet.They have 9pm, 11pm and 12.30am shows. Entry for us was about 250-300 baht (i cant remember), plus a free drink.We went for the 11pm show which was alot more quiet and i suppose less fun since we were the only people there aside from other couples. Dont expect the furnishings to be well-maintained/of high-class. However, the show itself is very entertaining and personal as the performers will come up to your seats and “entertain” you – ESPECIALLY the guys. Other reviews say its more informal, cheaper and fun compared to the Simon and Aphrodite Carabet shows available in Phuket.!! Be mindful that it may get awkward if you go there as a couple because the performers really get up-close & personal with the males – you have been warned! I shall not spoil the show any further.Anyway, after the performance, the performers will swarm you and ask for TIPS. They will also pull you up on stage to take pictures with them. Since we were the only ones, perhaps it was alot worse than if there had been other people.Remember to be polite yet forceful, and be very aware of your surroundings!!! Me and a few other friends left after giving a 500 baht tip (in total, for all the performers) and we thought we had escaped them, but did not realize we had left a friend behind because the performance was SO overwhelming!!He was swarmed by the performers after we left and they did not let him go until he gave ANOTHER 500 baht tip. We couldn’t rescue him from them because we realized too late! So remember to account for all your group members!Also, beware that the show has occassional nudity involved so it’s not very child-friendly.
We went to this caberet show after seeing it featured in the TV show What Happens in Thailand. This is of a very poor standard, costumes were nice but didn’t cover what they were meant to. Performers were not attractive Ladyboys. The show was free but you are required to buy a drink to watch show. Filled in an hour but fairly average
Yeah the lipsync isn’t 100%. Yeah the occasional nip slips out of a costume. Yeah they ask for tips at the end. Now you know that, go and have a very good laugh, it’s 300baht to get in each with a free drink, then we gave 100 between us at the end for a tip which they seemed happy with. It’ll last 45 mins and your cheeks will age from laughing and the costumes and dancing are pretty decent. Not for the faint hearted or easily jealous though…
