I certainly had no idea what to expect from the Thai wine scene. I tried several wineries in the Khao Yai region and was certainly impressed and very surprised with the professionalism and quality. Alcidini was one of my destinations and I quickly discovered the winery is far more than just about the wine. Finding the place was no issue with GPS giving directions. The family team of father, mother and son are very passionate, engaging, humble and have an interesting story to tell. Definitely worth visiting the weed cutting sheep and turkey pets who were incredibly friendly, particularly the sheep when you have their favourite snack in hand 🙂 The wine commentary is exemplary covering exactly how the wine is made and what food you would pair them with. The wines are quite unusual in terms of the way they are made and the intention behind them to specifically pair with Thai food. I bought quite a few bottles of various wines which certainly have a unique smell and taste in my experience. I certainly look forward to drinking them. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
I visited the winery with my fiancé to look for wines for our wedding next year. The winery is run by a mother, father and son trio, who have all spent time in Australia and/or America studying oenology. We were greeted by the mother before we even got to the front door! The wine tasting on offer was more than reasonable at 100 baht per person and the process and story of making each wine was explained in great detail. They even offer their wines with your own customised labels for occasions such as weddings and have plenty of examples on display. I’m really glad we made the trip out to Alcidini and would recommend to all.
The winery is a bit far. It is an organic place, eg using LED light and solar cell. They have other activities such as feeding sheep. Wine testing explanation is very clear. The wine test is good. They also make for OEM wine and private label (eg. for wedding or as souvenir). The price is not expensive at all comparing with the test and rewards that they get. I even wonder that they make the wine by heart rather then for commercial.
Very friendly Thai owners speaking perfectly English. Informative visit and wine tasting, but wine are not that good unfortunately. I don’t understand their policy to sell only old vintage (2011) already oxidated. Worth a visit to see the domestry and to talk with this nice couple, but don’t expect to find great wine here.
This family-run estate is run with passion and excellence! Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly folks will teach one about grapes, wine and the whole process leading up to their finished product—wonderful wine! Many bottles for tasting and even more for purchasing. Kids had a lovely experience with turtles, sheep, turkeys n a friendly cat. I’d say you need 1-2 hours to soak it all in.
Set in a gorgeous tranquil setting, Alcidini winery proves to be worth the time to get there. It’s a small scale, family run enterprise offering a surprisingly good product. The wines are modestly presented and the owners are visibly proud of their creation. It’s altogether lovely and well worth a visit to buy a bottle or two to take away.
The owners themselves greeted us, brought us around the winery, and lead us through the wine tasting. We tried 5 types of wines, and their explanations were very thorough. You can feel that they are passionate about what they do, and since they don’t really commercialize themselves, the prices are more affordable with the quality kept very high. We truly enjoyed our visit!
Never have I thought there would be a vineyard in Thailand until my family and I chance upon Alcidini Winery. We were greeted by the vineyard owner and immediately greeted us with a warm smile. She speaks fluent english as she was brought up in east coast of USA. She briefed us Alcidini is a latin word meaning Kingfisher and the location is known as King Fisher. She proudly presented us her various type of flowers and explain in detail that her land sitting on spring water reserve. So we tasted the pump out water and indeed taste like mineral water. The turkey is hilarious , if u talk to them, all of them will respond back simultaneously. The sheep seems to be enjoying the sun as they all resting. The vineyard was great to walk and taste as no insecticide sprayed on it. All organic. The best part is wine tasting as she took great effort to gave us a lesson on wine tasting and share with us her awards winning wine. In fact, her rose wine is awarded World Best. Its unbelievable but its true. Their grape juice is also organic and taste delicious. All in all, it was truly a worth while experience for my family. The best part is no need to pay entrance fee. We used the fee and buy her award winning produce. Well done Alcidini Winery.
This was a wonderful experience with a variety of wines for different pallets – basic to bigger bolder tasters. Organic farm with animals such as turkeys geese and sheep A great place for events too – nice water feature and bridgeTasting fee of 100B, but refunded with purchase. I thought I was in California tasting
Spend a few hours at the winery as we were staying local and I had always fancied visiting a winery. The local is in a nice setting and the owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. We ended up buying a couple of bottles and a few other things. Would definitely visit again if I was in the area.
