Highlight of our trip to Thailand! The home stay was fantastic, and the planned activities were incredible. It was clear that our guides loved and respected their elephants, and it was a joy to see them so happy and healthy!
If you want an unreal experience to remember while in Chiang Mai, Karen Hilltribe Elephant Sanctuary is the place to go! Kopy and the team made the day 10/10, good company, food, and the best elephants you get to do a lot with! Thank you Karen Hilltribe & Kopy for my highlight memories in Thailand!
We had a half day morning trip. Picked up some banana for the elephants on the way and we have tasted some , and was delicious ?. We spent entire time feeding , muddle and bathing with the elephants. It was well organised trip by the team. We all felt so natural and fun. I also speak a little Karen language ( the whole team speak Karen) so I felt like being home after 30 plus years away. Having to eat some of the elephants food ( Sugarcane) was a bonus. Do support Karen Hill Tribe group as their main priority is the wellbeing of the Elephants. You will know more of their stories on the trip.
We had an amazing day at this lovely elephant sanctuary???? the workers were so loving and caring for the elephants and they looked really happy❣️This is probably the best day of Thailand so far!! Lovely time with the elephants and amazing pad Thai for lunch! Our guide Kopy was amazing! If you are traveling to Chiang Mai and want to visit an elephant sanctuary (that’s actually caring for their elephant) VISIT this place❣️❣️Thank you for having us!
We spent a wonderful morning in the company of 4 adult elephants and baby Tara. It’s clear to see how well looked after these elephants are. We got to feed them, watch them take a mud bath & then help rinse them off in the river. We also enjoyed a wonderful pad Thai lunch ? Thank you to Nat, Copi & the team for such a brilliant experience ?? Copi also does a brilliant cockney impression ?
There are many Elephant Sanctuarys to choose from in Chiang Mai. Most claim to be ethical and they probably are. However, we decided to choose Karen Hilltribe. Primarily, because there was not one negative review. We were not disappointed. Pick up time was prompt at 8am, in a Songthaew red truck with another 3 guests. After a short toilet and refreshment break on route, we arrived at the Elephant Sanctuary about 1:30 hours later. Waited for a short while until a further 5 guests arrived. Making 10 in our group. The host was an energetic guy called Kobi. After a short talk about the Elephants and some do’s & don’t, we went to feed the elephants. Four adults and a baby of 6 months. There was a short break and elephants were then left alone. We returned shortly to follow them as they wandered through some woods and either grazed or had a mud bath. The elephants were left alone while we had lunch of Pad Thai (egg & tofu), spring rolls and watermelon. After we changed into our swimwear, we followed the elephants into the river and we were invited to wash the mud off. There was no evidence of the elephants being mistreated and the only encouragement was with food. These majestic animals roamed as they pleased and we had to get out of the way when necessary. I felt privileged to be in the presence. We also opted for the bamboo rafting, which was also worth it. We passed several other elephant sanctuarys as we were guided down the river. Arrived back at out hotel about 4pm. Overall an excellent day and well worth the money.
This was an epic adventure for our group of friends. Our guide Kopy was a very friendly and funny guy. We did not want to go to a sanctuary where people ride and where the elephants are chained. Instead we opted for one where those gentle giants are treated with respect and were not chained.Would 100% recommend and support Karen Hilltribe Elephant Sanctuary. Cheers!
We had a wonderful experience at the Elephant Sanctuary ?. From the moment we arrived, it was clear how well the elephants are treated. The care and respect given to these animals is evident in every detail. The workers at the sanctuary are extremely attentive and passionate about what they do.In addition, the food served was delicious, with fresh options prepared with great care. The atmosphere at the sanctuary was contagious, and with each passing moment, the place became even more welcoming, with cheerful and fun music that added a special touch to the experience. It is a place we highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience a true connection with these magnificent animals ??
Happy elephants and lovely welcoming hosts! The best part was to bathe together in the river with a happy elephant baby ❤️❤️❤️
