De Bloo Studio : Leather crafts workshop is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 4 Sukhumvit Soi 29 Klongtoey Nua, Wattana, 10110, Thailand
A friend introduced The Gong Bang to me as a fun workshop. Was available one day and decided to pick up the tools and make myself something to wear. Turns out I made a wrist strap and a clutch bag both in a day! They are both so pretty and made with leather, something I can wear for fashion and pride. Thanks Gong Bang! I’ve enjoyed my day spent with you.
The workshop was easy to find and the staff were very friendly and professional. We choose the leather we wanted to make our simple pouches from, the lining and zippers. Me being a ‘guy’ choose conservatively but my wife and daughter (who’s 11) chose some zippier colors. The workshop is set for 3 hours but I finished in 2 hours, the only bit I found a little challenging was the sewing machine, but the instructor was beside the whole time, guiding me on how to drive the machine. They had a lovely young woman who stayed with my 11 year old the whole time, she was great and really encouraged our daughter, who did find the gluing parts a little bit difficult (more the control as you need to put the glue along the edges of the bag) so I suggest anyone younger than this might find it a bit of a challenge. The workshop had other students who where there making more sophisticated bags, but for the day workshop of 3 hours the satchel you make is completely achievable. It was highly enjoyable to make a small simple bag, and very rewarding and I encourage guys to join their wives to make their own bags, it was great.
I had been in Thailand for traveling with my friend only for 3 days. So we are trying to find out for a memorable recreation in Bangkok, and we found the gong bang ! Making zipper pouch in our opinion is quite difficult, but we can make it easily in here with lovely teacher. Even sewing machine using is not that hard for us also. So many choices of material color which we can customize to make it uniquely. Every steps was recommended slowly and done perfectly in 3 hours ! I also make a cute tassel as additional option with different color from pouch. Can’t wait for the next visit, we will make a clutch for sure !
Went on my own to do this. I was the only tourist there in a room full of Thai locals doing much more complicated work. Everyone was very quiet and serious and I felt a bit clutzsy! If I had had someone to laugh with me at my attempts at glueing stitching and putting together this bag it would have been more fun. But the instructor was lovely and very patient as I glued wrong bits and got much glue on me. The final result was very pleasing though and I have a bag I can be proud of. You can make a keychain here in 45 mins for 200 baht (about $8) but if you want a leather clutch with tassels be prepared for 3 hours and 3200 baht (about $130). Different thing to do if you are over looking at temples and the like. Very close to Asok BTS
My partner and I did the afternoon workshop with the Gong Bang and had a great time. We made a lovely leather pouch each. The staff are so lovely and helpful and were great in helping us to make a product we were happy with! It was really fun to do something quite different in Bangkok. Highly recommend!
My husband and I both made the small zip leather purses with fringe tassel. They’re lined with fleece and look very luxurious when done! Their patient instructors walk you through the steps as you progress through the process. You’ll learn how to sew simple seams on the industrial sewing machine, and how to use all the leather cutting and shaping tools. There are multi-day classes we would have signed up for, if we had more time.
This was the highlight of Bangkok! I made a leather pouch and my parter made a card case and keychain. You do most of the work but it’s set up so it’s almost foolproof and you get an incredible product you could’ve bought at a store. They also sell kits in the studio with everything you need to make more things at home if you’ve enjoyed it, and online classes to teach you how! The staff was incredible – overall just a great experience, I wish we were staying here longer to do more classes!
