Two beautiful coral islands, topped with granite and trees. 3 sparkling lagoons entered from 2 dazzling white coral beaches. Above ground is a feast for the eyes but below the turquoise and cerulean waters, warmer than Mothers milk lie hectare after hectare of wondrous corals and their amazing inhabitants. It is a verifiable cliche to say that Nang Yuan island is a World Treasure – it most certainly is.To enter this amazing feast for the senses you can contact Easy Divers and book in which case they will do all the hard work like arranging a pick up at your hotel and taking you to your ferry to this island gem from a wide selection of places including Bangkok, Chumpon and Samui. If you want to “do it yourself” take a Lomphraya Ferry whose big catamarans will whisk you from Samui past the beauties of Phangan, Koh Tao and thence to Nang Yuan. My wife and daughter were already PADI qualified but were welcomed and taken in firm, professional and patient hands by the rather super Easy Diver teachers. Safety really IS first with your enjoyment a truly sybaritic second. We have dived in other places in Thailand but found Easy Divers to be not only the least expensive but also the best from a pretty excellent field. All qualification levels, from Bubbleheads (for kids) to professional diving qualifications are available. Subject to ability one can choose between compressed air or Nitrox tanks. The Easy Divers equipment we used was modern, perfectly maintained and there were sizes to fit all people even my daughter who was 10 years old.We can assure you of a wonderful dive even if it is your first time. Easy Divers teachers are aware of people’s concerns even fears which will soon melt away in the shallow waters of the island. Terrific dives are “off the beach” – that’s right one just checks all the scuba equipment and under the close watchful eye of your guardian guiding instructor you are soon gliding amongst the colourful corals and millions of brilliantly hued fish. Most dives around the island off the beach are only down to 12 metres a depth which guarantees excellent light and legions of fish. Some of the courses offered by Easy Divers on Nang Yuan include accommodation, though it is rustic with fans not air-conditioning. However, the island is privately owned by a Chinese-Thai family and for those wishing better conditions, air-conditioned rooms are available. On the same island a bar and restaurant provide refreshments and food.Prices are reasonable for accommodation and food. One caveat: You Must Read the Trip Advisor reviews about accommodation on this tiny island. The owners of Koh Nang Yuan do levy a small charge of 100 baht (about 3 USD) to visit. Also no plastic bottles are allowed onto the island.15 minutes across the water lies the island of Koh Tao or Turtle Island. Koh Tao also offers good diving but in groups off the dive school’s boats. I do not believe one can dive off the beach.However, there are stacks of long tailed “bus-boat taxis” which ferry you across from Koh Tao to Nang Yuan. Koh Tao does have nice hotels and restaurants with staff who are welcoming and kind. Staying on Koh Tao and taking the daily ferry to Nang Yuan assures you marvellous diving with good accommodation.Next month, July my family will return to our hearts’ delight which is Thailand. We will visit 3 new hotels and try out a couple of other hire services. Happy Trails
Took the Discover Scuba Diving course with Easy Divers, (this course is for people without any experience to try out scuba). We had 2 45 minutes dives and had an amazing experience. The staff taught us the basics beforehand and gave us practice in shallow water, close to the shore..We went in groups and the instructors were taking care of us from the beginning…They taught us some signs to use underwater and we were communicating beneath using them..The instructors were guiding us throughout under water and also showing various coral/fish varieties..The scene was brilliant underneath and this is definitely the best experience of my life! The Island is in north of Koh Samui by speed boat with a tour agency run by the westerner management, good boat, beautiful place, good to swim and snorkeling under clear blue sea of Siam Gulf, white sand and a good restaurant, a bit high price that we accept it. There are also provide diving activity. The one day trip also visit Koh Tao for a short break before arrive Koh nang Yuan with lunch services by the tour agency. A guide tour is o.k. most are Myan Mar personel, because they speak fluently English for foreign tourists.
Easy dives company. The instrucror gave me and my father a refresher course. He did his own thing. Did not stay with us or assist us as was necessary with the refresher course. We paid for two dives but only received one. The manager said that it was a language issue. I showed him the brochure but he said to call the number and dispute it with them. The sites were beautiful. The experience could have been better. I would not choose this company for diving.
I decided to get certified with Easy Divers on Koh Nang Yuan based on a friend’s recommendation, and you can’t beat the price, which includes a basic room with an Open Water Course. It’s a great laid-back place to get your diving certification and generally relax.PROs of staying on Koh Nang Yuan:1) Getting certified here is convenient because there are two beach-entry sites, so you can get just roll out of bed and amble over to the shop / beach for your morning dive. If you dive from Koh Tao, you’ll probably have to get up earlier to get on the boats to head out to your dive sites. Some of these will likely be around Koh Nang Yuan anyway, so you might as well stay closer to the action. 2) You will have the beautiful white sand beaches to yourself before and after the hordes of day-trippers swamp the island.CON:- There’s no nightlife to speak of and only one restaurant and one bar, so you may get tired of the menu after too long. If you’re interested in partying and greater variety in food and drink, this may not be for you. (No Koh Phangan-style Full Moon Parties here.) SERVICE & AMENITIES:The dive shop management was friendly and communicative with reservations and questions prior to arrival and once I got there helped out with anything I needed with the front desk at the hotel (all part of the same resort, but different on-site managers). One of the diving instructors lent me some gear for free to go snorkeling after class. A cooler of drinking water is available for divers (otherwise, you have to buy from the restaurant bar b/c they don’t allow you to bring your own drinks).EQUIPMENT:All the diving equipment was in good condition and looked well-maintained.INSTRUCTION:I did my PADI OW and AOW certification here and the instruction was solid and laid back. Good personal attention since I was the only one starting a course that day. (And I got good informal tips from some veteran divers hanging around the shop.)DIVE SITES:Very nice bathtub dives from a couple of shore-entry sites (Twins and Japanese Gardens) as well as nearby boat dives (Chumphon Pinnacle, Hin Pee Wee, et al.). Good visibility and lots of colorful tropical reef fish. Occasional pelagics.
This is our second trip with East Divers on Nang Yuan. Great dives right off the beach without having to get on a dive boat like everyone else.Noodle, the nickname of our wonderful french dive master, was awesome, competent, professional and fun. ask for him by name and you will not be disappointed. – oh and young single ladies, he is single and available!!!
When I decided to dive, i never knew I would be able to pull it off in the first place. But not letting my fear and thought come over me, I just decided I WILL DO IT. I was preparing myself all through the ferry ride to Koh Nan Guyan for the dive. reached there, and the first set of training from Beth, our instructor started. looked like it was doable. we started proceeding towards the waters for the dive, the first time in and almost gave up. It was just because of the support of Beth from Easy divers that I dared to go in again and i can’t even describe in words how beautiful the experience was. It was well planned, really well organised and of course patient to the fact that I was a first time diver.It was just splendid in all aspects and thank them and Beth for this wonderful experience!!
Rory and his staff at Easy Divers are not only competent, fun, and professional divers but they are genuinely awesome people! They worked with me to plan the perfect trip and went out of their way to ensure everyone on the trip was not only safe but having fun! And then the location… paradise on Earth. Sitting on a postcard island, this dive center fits right in. They took our booking for 11 divers on one days notice, had all the gear ready in advance, paperwork was quick. Excellent beach dive. Nice (but shallow) dive site. Kudos to Peter and Daniel for taking care of us.
