  1. Dan Kwian used to appeal as often they would produce some rather lovely terra cotta pottery and Khymer plaques/motifs. However, the in thing now seems to be innocuous cartoon figures and animals in lurid colurs that offend not only the eyes but the soul.A quick walk, and little of appeal was to be found except for bamboo water features ala Japan and some rather large water pots used for fountains. Otherwise, dont waste your time really. It used to be worth the trip but l would not waste my time or petrol again. Id bypass it for the local zoo instead.

  2. We expected a typical touristic village but it was quite different there. They have common products in different shops but some shops with some special products will definitely catch your attention. And its quite cheap to buy it from there. Just avoid the shops which I really in the bus stop and walk towards the zoo direction for 100minutes. Then you could see some pocket roads with full of shops. This place is quite cheap and interesting products. And moreover they are not jumping on us…

  3. Loved visiting the village and seeing the kilns and the pottery. The walk around the island is very pleasant. Lots of locals there.

  4. This pottery village has a large number of stalls selling many sizes of planters, decorative garden figures and pottery stools shaped liked animals. I particularly liked the drunken looking sheep!Lots of selection and good cheap prices. There is a visitor’s centre, but it wasn’t open when we were there. You do not see pottery being made, but might see it being painted.I bought 4 hanging strawberry shaped planters for 100B! My Husband bought two large vases for 1200thb. Our Thai Friend who was with us said prices were much cheaper than Chatuchak.

  5. This village is typical for thai business. Every shop shows the same: pottery. If you go a bin inside the village and have a look in the gardens, you will find places where the pottery is manufactured and the people show you their work.

  6. Dan Kwian has more pots than you can shake a stick at! But a bit confusing. The “village” where many of the pots are made has several stalls where pots are sold, but there is also a much larger area down the road (toward Nakhon Ratchisima) that has many more shop/stalls and a wider selection. The pots are colorful, good quality, and very inexpensive. We recently bought more than a dozen pots of varying sizes (up to 80 cm in height) for a total of only about 6000 baht. Shops can arrange delivery to Bangkok or ship overseas if you want/need. When we were there, very few customers were around. Either people are losing interest in pottery, or it was just an “off” day or off-season. In any case, we scored some beautiful pieces are very inexpensive prices.

  7. Dan Kwian is billed as a pottery village, and 15 km south of Nakhon Ratchasima City on either side of the highway the ceramics are on display at totally similar stalls one after the other. The ceramics range from small pots and figurines to enormous urns, jars and statues. But I was looking for something else – sandstone carvings of Buddhist or Hindu deities to add to the collection in my garden back in Rayong.I found a beautiful carving of Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of beauty and wealth. The first asking price of Baht 1,500 was quickly knocked down to Baht 1,000.Struggling to lift the statue, I loaded into my car and proudly drove back to Rayong. Now I have to work out where in the garden I will put it.

  8. There is much variety of pottery. Prices are reasonable and the owners usually don’t mind you taking pictures. We’ll worth a visit.
