Pak Nam Pran Fishing Village is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Thailand
Being a lover of all things fishy and the marine we visited the fishing village on another beautiful sunny morning in Thailand in December. First impressions were kind of shocked at the run down appearance of the area. Lots of big wooden fishing boats were tied up at any available mooring point along the pier and on the water. Thai fishing boats are nothing like western fishing trawlers. They are antiquated looking 3 / 4 story high wooden structures which are also home to the hundreds of people who fish for a living. Some are brightly coloured in many different colours more look like they should not even be lived on not to mind used for fishing on the high seas. Huge nets with huge holes were hanging everywhere there was room to hang them to dry in the warm sunshine. Unable to be repaired by the fishermen due to cost. These people know what it’s like to work hard for a living yet their warm welcome and friendly ness was so inviting and reassuring. Investment is so lacking in this area it’s noticeable how run down and neglected the area is. Unless you have an interest in all things fishy and boats I feel it would hold no interest for visitors. Because of our love for the marine we enjoyed our morning in the area but having been there once we would have no other reason to go back.
Quiet and very long stretch of beach but not for kids. The sea food and restaurants are plenty but not expect the price to be cheap.
the general area is very nice and local accommodation ranges from cheap to very expensive … the cheap options are very good , clean and provide all that is required … then pop into the expensive ones to use the bar etc !!The fishing ‘harbour” is very Popeye style … very amusing and quaint. There was a large dredging operation ongoing when I saw it, so mud surrounded the area … Im sure that will have changed by now though. The beach is being fortified in places to stop erosion, and actually appears to be a good job too.Generally a quiet area to relax in and well worth a visit.
Best place to have a quiet romantic trip, great thai massage at Smile and also great paragliding and kitesurf, .Amazing fish restaurants.and super friendly people.
If you are looking for a holiday where you can relax and spend time with Thai holiday makers this is the place. There are many food places /bars and a few street vendors nearer the fishing bay.Beware of the huge jelly fish that not only linger in the waters but also become stranded on the beach. You can walk the length of the 4km beach without seeing a soul, although you might be followed by the odd dog.Try out Smile for a massage ,opposite the Aleenta reception. At present there is a great deal of work going on to improve the sea defences and roads,it appears to be nearer the Evason hotel at present, but heavy trucks/JCBs make alot of noise and dust for quite a distance.
The village and its surrounding is still typical Thai, though a few modern hotels are present. You will find local dishes in small beach restaurants at fair prices, nice beaches for bathing as well as local market. To buy a morning breakfast in the Main Street is an unforgettable event. You might go by bus or taxi from Hua Hin, approximately 30 km away.
Just come back from Huahin – a beautiful seaside city in the South of Thailand. I used Couchsurfing for . y accommodation and my host took me & my friend to a beach called Pak Nam Pran. Actually this is the second time for me to be here but the first one for my friend and we all totally enjoyed it. Although it was holiday time, not many tourists were there & I just love that. Sunny windy sandy and pretty, that’s it.❤????

We stayed for a few weeks with teenage daughter and her boyfriend. We stayed at chill villas for a few nights, defiantly recommend s as is other places. We enjoyed street food and the beach, was worth a ride up the coast a few km for Khao lak brach as well and more things to do. Lots of good kitesurfing schools but karl at beach house bar was the best by far!
