Pema was our guide and was very personable and knowledgable. She brought us to a restaurant with a view overlooking Patong and shared stories along with a wonderful meal. We had a great experience with the ajarn while he created our Sak Yants. It was spiritual and everything we were looking for.
We arrived at the Suwan Khiri Wong Temple in Patong and we met our tour guide from A Chef’s Tour, Pema & she had beautiful flowers for me! Such a sweet touch and they smelled wonderful. We toured the temple and it was beautiful. Pema took us out to dinner at a hillside restaurant called Poo Nurntong, everything we had was very good, and the view is breath taking.Over dinner Pema told us stories about the ajarn, the teacher we were going to see. He comes from a long line of healers and Pema told us stories about curing people of their evil eyes and giving protection with blessings. After we ate we drove to the ajarn’s house and met with him to discuss our ideas. The ajarn was so nice and helpful in discussing different symbolism. It was spiritual and eyeopening. Would recommend for an authentic Sak Yant experience in Thailand
Pema’s love and pride for her neighborhood really shines through this feast for the senses. Her bubbly personality made walking through the heat seem nothing. The sheer variety of food (not to mention quantity) could not leave anybody wanting! In addition, the interesting history and architecture of Old Town makes the locale fascinating.
This foodie walking tour of Phuket Old Town was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my stay in Phuket. I would do it again in a flash! Our tour guide Nam took us to several different restaurants where we sampled a range of cuisines from different regions of Thailand, as well as Indo-Chinese and Burmese dishes. The food was so delicious and there was more than plenty to sample. We also had an opportunity to learn about Phuket’s history and admire some of the original architecture. Thank you so much Nam for a very enjoyable and interesting day.
Naam was so lovely and a wealth of Information. She took us to so many Places I would normally walk straight past. ALL of the food was delicious and there was SO much to eat (go with an empty stomach). Highly recommend this Tour!
This was a phenomenal tour with a delightful and knowledgeable tour guide – Lucky. The pace was great and it was so much food. Everything was phenomenal and authentic. Taken to small little spots with menu’s not in english. Eat where the locals eat and experience some food you’d never find yourself. Our 9 and 10 year olds ate everything and enjoyed it all. Great sites to see as you wander around old town too.
I did the Chiang Mai evening tour so I decided I would try the Phuket tour with my friends visiting from Canada, and this company did not disappoint! Pema was such a warm and loving tour guide, and so so funny. She knew everyone in the neighborhood and had such a genuine connection to the culture and the food. Everything we ate was authentic and most of the selections were delicious, though I won’t be sampling fermented fish innards curry again anytime soon! Thanks for another great experience, A Chef’s Tour.
Pema was an amazing host! We felt like we were with family. She made it so special because she really loves her community and we felt special going to eat at all the different locations. She is also great with teenagers. We learned a lot about the culture, had great street food and you feel like you got a personalized tour. Thanks for an amazing day!
Amazing tour! Lucky showed is through the market with the fresh food and spices. Then we went on the tour, tasting the different cultures of thai cuisine with expert knowledge from Lucky! Remember to not eat breakfast!!!
