There are two possible tours. We booked tour A with elephant riding. It started really great. They picked us up at the hotel lobby and we went to the Chinese lady monk. There we had half an hour to explore the area. Not a lot of time but ok. Afterwards we went offroad to the mountain top. The offroad tour was great. We were allowed to sit on the roof of the car. After some time we switched that every tourmember could sit there at least once. The big Buddha at the mountain was not interesting. It remembered a little bit on a big construction zone. Afterwards they drove us to a tent where you could take a picture with an tiger. You could see them from 3 screens on the tent in their dirty small cages. The picture was around 300 / 400 baht depending on the tiger. Then lunch. This was really good :)From than on it went worse and worse. We drove to the elephant / monkey show. The elephant ride was not 15-20 minutes. It was a maximum of 10 (only because one elephant in the row did not want to go on). At the half of the round they tried to sell us necklaces out of elephant bones. Also during the monkey and elephant shows they asked you for extra tips. The animals where chained and had not a lot of space to move. Not even the elephants you ride on have a lot of space. They only run in a small circle around some trees the whole day.Next stop, coconut farm. They told us 5 minutes what they make out of coconuts and afterwards we went to the store to buy coconut souveniers.Afterwards, the waterfall and the grandfather & grandmoter stone was great again. All in all I would not recommend tour A. On the one hand the offer you a lot to see but on the other hand you have not a lot of time to walk around the sights and it does not seem as the animals are treated well. Also they want to have tips and extra money all the time.
Excellent. Loads of great fun. All people on the tour with me were nice and we all had good conversations. The staff were nice too and liked joking around scaring people. The tour and sights were amazing looking out from various view points across the island, to visiting a temple and a museum. The meal at lunchtime was practically all you can eat Traditional Thai food which was amazing.Highly recommended.
We booked this trip only the night before. Being picked up about 9am we have been dropped just after 4pm. After looking at some reviews we decided to choose option B, without animals. Very interesting trip with informations from the staff. I think the best part was when they offered us to sit down on the top of the vehicle(off road ride). It was grear fun(almost like riding in Thorpe Park in Surrey,UK) Lunch was very tasty with great views. Another place which was very interesting was coconut plantation. We bought few things from the local shop. Lovely coconut ice cream amazing.
We chose option B, the tour without animals. We went to some interesting places, a little off the beaten track which was fun. Many places we wouldn’t have known about without the trip. Fifa was a good guide and kept us well informed. Good day out overall.
I think the jungle discovery tour is the best way to discover koh samui. The tour is sending you to plenty of great points temples, big boudha, waterfall, mountain, and the grand father and grand mother rocks. I had a really great fun during the tour. The ride up the mountain was just crasy. Really recommand this tour… plus side they run 2 tours 1 with elephant trecking the other one without, thing that i really liked as i do not agree with animal exploitation.
We opted for Option B which is without the Elephant trekking and camp but the tour guide went there anyways because other tour members opted for it and as a part we visited the Samui Elephant Camp. It was a horrifying experience and animals should not be used for entertainment. This is an inhumane camp where elephants are used for entertainment and tortured. This should not be visited and you should not engage in any elephant trekking, feeding or show activities. The elephants where chained and distressed, you could see their panic trying to break free from the chain. They looked tired and exhausted. They have skins patches and visible signs of torture on their ears and body. They were fed by tourists meaning they were starved and hungry so that tourist can buy their food. They were made to do circus acts which is achieved by torture and negative reinforcement. There was also a chained monkey that was going crazy trying to break free from his leash and made to also put on a show.It was sad tragic and heartbreaking!!As part of the tour, there was also an option to take pictures with the tigers and the tiger was chained. Do not take this tour and support such inhumane activities.
Was a poor choice on my part for my parents (aged 70) and I. Dad sat in the passenger seat of the cab for the day, thank you Major Safari for accommodating him. Mum had to hold on to the rails all day long, with uncomfortable seats and back rests which was tough going. That aside – 3 major areas people should be aware of – The tour is really rushed with only about 15-20mins per stop. The buffet lunch is not satisfactory for the $60-70 odd dollars you’re paying. Bring your own snacks none are provided. The elephant park for Major Safari didn’t look like it complied with Tourism Thailand requirements. My recommendation for 3 people looking for comfort and to set your own pace is to book a private car ($120 for 6 hrs we booked the following day).
We unfortunately did not get what we were hoping out of the experience. We basically had a driver drop us off at several different locations giving us time to explore on our own. Our group was back to the vehicle and ready to leave each stop well before the allotted time. While to some this may be what they are looking for, we typically go our tours to learn more about attractions and what makes them so special. Unfortunately our guides did not give us any of this. Our guide seemed more interested in joking and playing music. I was really looking forward to stopping and learning about the coconut farm however this was a huge disappointment. We stopped there for 5 minutes to see how the hair is taken off of a coconut and then we were directed to the gift shop. We did enjoy riding through the jungle however this alone was not worth the money.
Had an amazing day worth every penny. Time spent at each place was perfect I’ve often booked similar excursions and found ourselves bored but this was perfect. Lunch was amazing, so tasty! Would highly recommend. Only negative was at the waterfall we saw chained up elephants being ridden which was upsetting, but this wasn’t anything to do with the tour so can’t be helped.
Amazing trip, fun cruising the jungle on top of a jeep. They are amazing at their work, and amazing people. Lost my watch on the trip and they went out of their way to get it back to me! Thanks to Jackie and all of the crew! Go with them you won’t regrets choosing their tour!
