Ann is the owner and instructor. She is patient, knowledgeable and kind. Ann has a wonderful artist’s eye and is able to guide her students to their potential. The school is located in a serene environment and she is a gracious host. When I return to Thailand I am returning for more lessons!Theresa, USA
Nice way to spend the day at Ann’s private house/studio creating a batik project. She’s extremely gracious (and talented) and picked us up close to our guest house…and provided lunch!
Besides the fact that one is picked up where one is staying is remarkable. The studio is incredible w its massive stove for soaking the wax out of the fabric. While I only had one other studentfrom Italy to share the day w ….. I was very impressed on learning this remarkable approach. Don’t miss out on spending the 2 days w this lovely woman. I might add that I did this course 8 yrs ago so would definitely return.
I attended one of the beginner classes and enjoyed it so much that a few days later, i went back to learn one of the more advanced techniques.Ann is a great teacher – she is very professional, explains everything extremely well, has endless patience for those that may not be too creative and is lovely person. Ann will fetch you from your hotel and the studio is located just outside Chiang Mai in a quiet peaceful area which is conducive to being creative.I highly recommend it – you will not regret it.
In the 10 days that I’ve been in Thailand, I’ve done many of the usual tourist activities (an elephant camp, two cooking courses, temple visits, a massage course, night markets), but Ann’s batik school stands out as the most fun, informative, and unique experience I’ve had. Everything about this course surpassed my expectations. Ann, the owner and teacher, guided me through the batik process with patience, attentiveness, kindness, and humor in her lovely studio at her serene home located just outside of the city. As a teacher myself, I understand how difficult it can be to teach and tailor instruction. Ann did an amazing job with this. I have no prior art experience and yet Ann helped me create an art piece that I adore and she has inspired me to take up batik when I return home to the United States. I highly recommend Ann’s batik school for people of all ages, interests, and backgrounds. Thank you for an amazing experience, Ann!
Ann collected me from my hotel and took me to her home somewhere very quiet just outside Chiang Mai. There were two of us on this day. – me a complete novice and Jeffrey the opposite! Ann was wonderful – enthusiastic, warm and friendly with a lovely sense of humour. She is also a great teacher – full of encouragement. Lunch was great too. I would recommend this without hesitation. One of my favourite days in Chiang Mai.
I had a wonderful day with Ann at her home and studio learning how to batik. It was very relaxing and enjoyable in her peaceful studio. I was very pleased with my batik at the end of the day and was keen to come back for more! Great value for money too. She provided lots of snacks, tea and coffee, and delicious lunch.
Ann was such a pleasure to meet! She picks you up at your hotel and takes you to her wonderful home and batik studio. She is kind, fun, wonderful company, and an excellent teacher who is thorough and patient, and can turn anyone into an artist with a beautiful art piece to take home! A delicious meal and snacks are provided. A truly wonderful experience that I highly recommend! I will definitely visit her again next time I am in Chiang Mai. Thanks Ann!
My friend and I spent a wonderful day with Ann who taught us how to do batik. We both made a beautiful piece of art to take home to remind us of our great visit to Thailand. Ann was a excellent teacher and really made the day so fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend the class. The home made lunch was delicious?
We spent the day with Ann in her Batik School which is in the workshop right by her family home. The day started with her picking us up from our Guesthouse which was about 20minutes from her home. She was super friendly throughout and interested in everything you have to say. She brought us to her home where we started with Tea/Coffee and Croissants. She then spoke to us about the technique and the tools of the trade. We had a go on a tester cloth before heading to our final piece. Throughout the day she always made sure we were happy and was asking lots of questions about our travels and England. Once we’d practiced with the tester cloth we chose our design and went ahead with waxing, colouring, sealing and finally washing. It was a great experience we have learnt a new skill that we will be taking back to the UK. I feel like we’ve also made a new friend in Ann. She is super friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Also her husband cooked us up some delicious lunch! Thank you for a great day. If we’re ever in Chiang Mai again we will be sure to visit!
