Ao Thalane or Thalane Bay is one of the most beautiful mangrove forests in the whole of Thailand. About 20km from Krabi Town this section of the coast is covered in dense foliage that wraps all the caves cliffs and amazing shaped Karsts.This area of Krabi is perfect for cruising around in a Kayak. The small inlets, caves and hidden lagoons can be discovered on this kayaking tour, the shade from the jungle all around you keeping it cool. Krabi’s coastline is an amazing sight, to actually get to paddle a kayak around it is a very memorable experience. Kids love to kayak, its so close in to the nature its a really immersive experience.
My partner and I recently attended Krabi Kayak for a half day session. The tour was excellent seeing monkeys in the forest, crocodile cave ( no crocs) and other beautiful scenery. Da was very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed ourselves. We would recommend
The trip started at 5 pm, a bit late I believe from ideal. The tide was low so there was multiple time where the kayaks ran aground. As we reach the limestone canyon, we had to cancel going down the river due to the low tide.Coming back, as I was paddling with my 11 year old son, we got left behind, ran aground, and only reach the base when it was dark.I believe for safety there should have been a staff at the rear of the group making sure everybody is not left behind.The to and fro truck transport was unsafely fast with no safety belts or harness.Well I guess this may be the safety standard expected of a Thai tour company.Apart from the incomplete tour and safety issue, the whole experience was quite interesting.My advice is to be wary of low tide! Ask about this when you book.

I never experience kayak before but this is a place that you could start this energetic hobby in your lifetime!Sunset kayak is really awesome and you’ll want to repeat it again n again.
Hotel pick up was on time, took about 30 mins of driving with beautiful scenery along the way.They serve coffee or tea upon arrival and we took off with our guide.A wonderful elderly gentlemen who took our kid on his kayak while I shared same kayak with my wife.Total journey took 2 hours and covering a distance of 7 km.It was awesome, not that demanding. Beautiful sceneries of the limestone walls and mangrove swamps really makes you feel close to nature.Meandering around the the thick mangrove swamps, glimpse of flying fishes, monkey, it was really satisfying.The guides are professional and always looking out for our safety.The finale was a simple local Thai lunch with white rice, hot and spicy Thai fish cuisine, a plate of stew vegetables and pasta prepared with Thai flavours for 3 of us. Really worth an activity to do while you are in Krabi.
The tour operator pick-up us from our hotel in Ao Nang beach. After about an hour dtive, we arrived to the pier about 10:00 am, take a kayak and follow the leader along the canal. We went to 3 cave through forest canals with small group for 800 baht per person, include transfer, lunch and entrance fee. The program get done with a Thai lunch set about 2:15 pm. That was very good experience because it was our first time Kayaking! We enjoy of that♡
I think for the price we paid I couldn’t fault a thing. We were picked up after lunch and travelled in a van for 30 minutes to Ao Thalane. There we quickly boarded our paired kayak. The guide was kind and helpful. He helped a family with 2 very young children who basically sat in the kayak while the guide rowed the mum and one child and the dad rowed the second which was attached to the guide’s kayak. It was fantastic and easy kayaking through the mangroves and a different experience. At the end we saw the typical badly behaved monkeys who stole someone’s water bottle. We also spotted a lizard. We came back, ate watermelon then headed home. We were back around 6pm. ?
First time trying the kayaking. They offer helper at a rate if you do not have any confidence with the kayak. Its quite a shame that we did not manage to complete The Whole route due to low tide. Can take into consideration the tide times. Overall not bad would go back again for this activity to complete the whole route.
We had a mangrove kayak trip and it was one of the best impressions we have brought home from Thailand. Definitely recommend. There was a little rain, it was not hot, and there were just one more kayak with us. The mangrove jungle and the rocks and the nature was beautiful. We also had a great local guide, Matt, who showed us his beloved places and told a lot of interesting and fun facts (very good English skills too ?). Thank you!
