  1. Myself and my boyfriend had our first ever experience with tropical dive club. The instructors are excellent and extremely professional. I was very nervous and our instructor put me at ease throughout the experience. We did two dives. Halfway through the second I panicked and the instructor had me up to the surface within seconds and calmed me down. He had me back down again and I felt safe at all times. The lunch provided was tasty too.

  2. Sophie took my husband and I scuba diving at Sail Rock and it was a great experience – one of the best of our holiday. We chose here because of the reviews on TA and also because the staff are nice and there was no hard sell. We made enquiries the day before and the guy at the counter was content to answer our twenty questions about it. He was very laid back and didn’t pressurise us to book at all. My husband and I were both quite nervous as it was our first ever dive so Sophie arranged to meet us early and showed us the basics off the beach (getting water out of your mask and mouth – it is actually easier doing it in deep water but I probably would have panicked if I hadn’t tried it first in the shallows). Sophie was really friendly, came across as very professional and seemed very enthusiastic about marine life. We did two dives with lunch in between. I skipped lunch as I was feeling a bit queasy but my husband said it was lovely. I lay down because I was feeling tired and queasy and Sophie was straight over to see if I was OK. I was grand. The diving was great and Sophie made sure we saw a good variety of marine life. My husband panicked a few times because he couldn’t pop his ears and it was hurting him but Sophie was on hand to stop him bolting to the surface and helping him sort the problem with his ears. We were very well looked after. I have to say we both felt absolutely wrecked later that night – diving takes more out of you than you would think! My only complaint is that I wish someone had a gopro so we could have gotten a couple of underwater pictures of us. That would have been great. We didn’t bring our cameras to take pictures on the boat either in case they got wet although there is a dry area to store your stuff, just make sure you don’t stumble into the sea getting on or off the boat. I would highly recommend Tropical Dive club and Sophie in particular and I would love to go diving again (in tropical waters of course).

  3. This was our first scuba diving experience and we chose Tropical Dive Club based on other reviews. I was slightly nervous about scuba diving, but had emailed before we left the UK and the responses I got from Sophie at the club were helpful, reassuring and gave me the confidence to go for it. When we arrive on Koh Phangan, Tropical Dive Club was easy to find, right on the beach at the end nearest our Hotel (Santhiya). We arranged our dive with Gert for the next day, and before we headed out on the boat he fully kitted us out with everything we’d need and explained how it worked. On the way out to Sail Rock he gave us further instructions and the opportunity to ask questions. On arrival at Sail Rock we got into our equipment, with him supervising and checking everything was as it should be. Before getting into the water he fully explained what we would be doing and the different stages of our first dive. We definitely felt in safe hands. The dive site was fantastic, and we couldn’t believe the things we were seeing on our very first dive. My husband took to it immediately, whereas I was bit more nervous and panicked at the end of our first dive. Gert calmed me down and all was well. A leisurely break for lunch on the boat (provided) and then it was back in the water for a second dive. I decided that diving was a once In a lifetime experience for me and stayed on the boat. My husband and Gert returned to the underwater world for a second time. We both had a great day, and are really glad we did it. I may not necessarily do it again, but I don’t think I’d have done it at all if it wasn’t for the confidence and the experience of the instructors at Tropical Dive Club.My husband nominates it as his highlight of a two week trip to Thailand and would gladly return tomorrow to do it again. We cannot recommend them highly enough, whether your a confident swimmer or nervous nelly, they really look after you.

  4. My wife and I went with Tropical Dive Club to Koh Tao. we did 2 dives, dive time was approximately 40 or so minutes. We went on a long tail boat, we were part of a small group (4 people) with 2 dive master. Our dive master, Miles, was helpful in explaining the dive site, the sealife at the site and how we were to approach the site. We were provided with full dive equipment at no extra charge. The seas were rougher than usual and Koh Tao is very popular dive site, with boats queuing up behind eachother, meaning we had to do a far amount of swimming to reach the meeting point. Underwater was a different story, no current and a comfortable dive. The guys at Tropical provided lunch which we couldnt eat due to sea nausea! I would go with Tropical Dive Club again.

  5. Passed my OWD together with Gert in a 1on1. He introduced me in getting familiar with diving. I always felt save and comfortable with him under and over water.Gert has perfect knowledge about the dive spots (was at Sail Rock and Koh Ma). So he could show me all kinds of fishes which were to be expected even if other divers missed them ;)Boat and food was absolutely fine.thank you for the good time with you.

  6. We went on a beautiful trip. Everything was perfect and we had a fantastic day out on the boat. Snorkeling was beautiful!!Will definitely come back and make the diving course… Keep up the good work!!!

  7. When you walk up to Gert’s office/shack from the beach you can’t help thinking that it should been a movie. One of the most layback and friendly guy you can ever meet, a honest and straight talking German. At pre dive meeting Gert turns into a professional and detail observing guide who unlike most guides keeps a constant eye on his group while he is pointing to all the highlights of the dive. He is constantly checking the safety of all divers and is the most honest dive guide I have swum with. I cannot recommend him highly enough

  8. Staff rather uninterested in helping and being there for the divers, sort of unfriendly attitude. After having taken Open Water Diver certificate a few days before with another diving school on Koh Samui, there was a huge gap noticeable in terms of professionalism, service mindset and getting the feeling of safety first

  9. My husband and I love diving but, since having kids, we haven’t felt able to go. We thought this year would be a great time to introduce them both with a try dive session. If you want a modern, crowded jet boat this company is not for you. If you want focussed, individual attention with great diving equipment, I can’t rate them highly enough. We set out with another couple and two divemasters on a lovely, spacious Thai boat. Dirk took the other couple off for a proper dive whilst Gert dedicated himself to our two boys, making every effort to ensure they were comfortable in the water. Whilst his focus was on the kids, he also kept an eye on my husband and I as we kitted up since we openly admitted to being rusty.Once in the water, he patiently ran through all the safety training first before we went off at which point held onto both boys throughout the dives. It was a great experience and I can’t rate Gert highly enough. I should also add that lunch (red chicken curry and rice) was delicious and drinks were plentiful
