Roots Rock Reggae Bar is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Ao Nang Road, Thailand
The food here is poor, 2 of us visited and both were disappointed with the food, it was the worst we ate in Ao Nang. The green curry was soup like in consistency and Panang wasn’t much better. The group that was playing were average at best, I’d say more mediocre Not a place I’d recommend especially for food
Good cocktails, cheap beer, nice live music but a bits hot inside could get more fan but you can sit outside, they offer seat out door also.
This is an excellent place to listen to live music and have drinks. We went to this place twice during our 6 day stay in Krabi, once with my wife and second time with my 14-year old son also, and we loved it on both the occasion. They live bands are good and they interact with people sitting in the pub. Their cocktails are good, very reasonably priced during happy hours and the food is also good. Overall a good place to spend your evening.
Great music and probably the best cocktails we had at the fraction of the cost compared to other local bars, always welcomed and a very good vibe, highly recommend and even our teenagers were happy! Can not comment on the food as of yet though, thanks to all the team there 🙂
We went to this place twice during our 7 day stay in Krabi, once with my husband and second time with my friend also, and we loved it on both the occasion. He sang in here languages and had a great voice plus can play the guitar. Staff are really laid back and funny. This is the best place to be there for nice live music.
Avoid this place at all cost. To me priority is respect to the client and these guys did not only rip me off but they were super rude to me. When I asked for a draught beer, the waiter told me I could either other a draught Chang beer or a bottled Chang beer and it would be the same price, without telling me there is a promotion 2×1 in draught beers ONLY. When I asked to see the drinks menu, he told me about the 2×1 so I asked for another change bottled beer. When they gave me the bill, there was no 2×1 discount and although I explained it was completely unfair because the waiter’s explanation was unclear, instead of apologizing or agreeing to give me the 2×1 as it was their mistake, they started yelling and being effin rude to me, accusing me of even being a liar. On top of that the Pad Thai was EFFIN disgusting, the worst I’ve ever had in the entire Thailand. And I’ve had pad thai in every single corner of Thailand from North to South. Other than that ambiance is good. I wouldn’t come here ever though thanks to the rude servers. And being a solo foreign girl traveler I think I deserve even more respect. Horrible experience.
This place is awesome. Definitely a chill I’ll, dive bar vibe. We went for drinks and good music. They had a fantastic reggae band playing all kinds of great covers- Helmet, Floyd, Marley, Chili Peppers. We only drank- didn’t try the food.
Arrived thinking would be a good night out with good music… then you are fronted with the three for two deal on draught beer.. only when the staff come out with your drinks are you told the price… It’s the same price everywhere else for three beers. Music early on was low key, and really good so shrugged it off and waited for the “reggae band” well, if they knew a few reggae tracks it would have been good. Toilets were a total disgrace, and worthy of a third world award. Stinking, and water slopping around your feet. Disgusting. Then a member of staff, and a customer sparked up a spiff, that stunk out the seating area, to the point everyone was looking around. To my knowledge cannabis is still illegal in Thailand… Hey I’m getting old, but this place is a dump I won’t recommend
Went here for a drink while waiting for some friends.Beer was cold and reasonably priced, staff was chillaxed as might expect around the coffee shops in Amsterdam but maybe not in krabi :)Nice place to sit if you get a table next to the entrance
Great bar, but even greater band.I went into this bar with a couple of friends in late 2021, expecting drinks and a good atmosphere. The experience I got was much different. The band were incredible, they started off playing some classics; incubus being a highlight for me. They took requests, I asked for ‘Slow dancing in a burning room’ by John Mayer, a relatively difficult song to play without practice so I wasn’t expecting them to accept the request. The next c.7 minutes blew my mind, the whole band absolutely killed it, especially the lead guitarist who shredded it, for me it sounded better than when I saw Mayer play it live (albeit in a much bigger venue). The band and guitarist should be much bigger.
