Incredible dive shop that offers some of the best dive experiences on the island. Night dives at Chumphon and Sail Rock are a must and New Wave offers them on such a regular schedule, they make it so easy. The main point that makes this shop perhaps the best on the island is the instructors. All full of experience and all have showed so much patience. Keep doing your thing New Wave. Enjoy that beachside sunset for us.
We were diving for 2 weeks with new wave diving and everything was great, locations are amazing, especially the sail rock, it costs more but it was worth it and you’ll probably be sorry if you miss that one. Sunset dive is probably next best thing to try, it’s really beautiful. Regular dives are also fun, everything is full of life and colourful so it’s hard to not enjoy it. If you get a chance, try drift dive too, for me it was fun to cover larger distance than usual. Night dives are also great, our dive guide was using his flash light to guide one fish to the other bigger one which swallowed it in a second. I also had a fight with a trigger fish. Really can’t recommend this place enough, you’ll have awesome experience and stories to tell. Staff is friendly, receptionist are hot so you really can’t miss with this place. I would also recommend to hang out at the lazy bar after dives if you want to socialize a bit with other divers and it’s also great place to watch the sunset with a cold beer. I wish i could go back there and often think about it.

I did my dive master course with New Wave – had some of the best months in my life here! Trips to sail rock, night dives at Chumphon 😍 They run great boat schedules which worked for me perfectly (I work online keeping European hours and could often do 4 dives and then be back to start my day’s work!) and I liked the relaxed atmosphere – the team is very inclusive and can often be found enjoying a beer at the shop together at the end of the day or at the dive shop bar Lazy. The course itself was mostly led by Derek who is a great instructor (if you can understand Scottish!!! ;)) with lots of experience and I felt in safe hands with him. He’s great at explaining the more technical aspects of diving and getting you to hone your skills, assisting with courses etc. There are usually other dive masters around too which means you can bounce things off each other and get plenty of diving experience together, practice your leading skills etc. I’m missing koh tao and the new New Wave crew massively and can’t wait to come back and dive with you guys again as a DM. Say hi to the whaleshark for me!
During my recent trip to Koh Tao I booked Sail Rock trip (likely one of the best dive sites in the Gulf of Thailand) and was very impressed by organization and execution. In fact I was so impressed that I decided to repeat the trip a few days later (on both occasions we encountered whale shark). I enjoyed friendly, professional and attentive staff (special thanks to Tom and Tim). If you end up going to Koh Tao I can recommend New Way with absolutely no hesitation whether you are looking to hone your skills or just to do some fun dives.
I’m very satisfied with New Wave Diving, especially my instructor Tom Jang , He not just easy to talk to, but also he give me the best attention I can ask for. He is very experienced instructor. Best part is I get to see a whale shark during my training, not only once , but twice.
Diving with New Wave was a pleasure. They have very knowledgeable dive instructors. Tom Jang is highly recommended as a dive guide. He knows the sites around the island and can give even some of the more experienced divers tips for improvement. If you are in Koh Tao and looking to dive, you should consider New Wave.
