  1. If you find some awesome place to take a bike trip in Thailand with your family, friends, or couple, I think Bang Krachao is the best answer. Bang Krachao is an artificial island located in the Chao Praya River. Bang Krachao is also known as the green lung of Bangkok because It is surrounded by many trees grow up among the city of air pollution. There are many ways to get to Bang Krachao. If you guys don’t have private car, you can take BTS skytrain to Udomsuk station, and then take a taxi or a pick-up truck taxi to pier, then take a ferry to Bang Krachao. When you arrived at Bang Krachao, you will see many bicycle rental shops. So, you can pick bicycle which you like. The cost of each bicycle is 50 baht per day, and you must return the bicycle before 5 p.m., after that you will receive the map to guide you to the place that you want. In the map, it includes the place like Bangnampuengnok temple which situated near the pier and Dhevasathan that you can go inside to make a merit. The next place is Bangnamphueng Floating Market which has a lot of delicious Thai food, dessert, refreshing beverage (such as honey lemon juice), homemade products, and including fortune teller, that is place that I like the most because the food is very delicious! Next is Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Garden. This place is far away from the pier 7 kilometers. You have to ride a bicycle to go there. In the park it is surrounded by a lot of trees. So, these trees make a good ambiance and make people feel calm and relaxed. I think if you want to spend time for relaxing or having a picnic, Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park is very appropriate place!! Here are some places in Bang Krachao that I recommend for you. Actually, there are a lot of places which sound interesting to go there, but you should experience it for yourself, and I think you will love Bang Krachao and want to come back again and again, like me.

  2. Top notch tour 7 days and 6 nights. Highly professional and friendly guides. A plethora of tantalising food, quality information and wonderful friendship. I will be back. This is my second tour with spiceroads, in 2018 i did the chiang mai to bangkok tour. I highly rate this company as the best bicycle tour provider in Thailand. Thank you once again for a wonderful trip.

  3. Amazing Cycling Tours! Did the Saraburi tour and loved every second. Great organisation, great people and an amazing route!

  4. My partner and I loved this tour. Our guide Sugar, was awesome!! There were just the two of us on the tour and we had such a great time. The scenery was stunning and off the tourist trail which was really great. As a bonus we got a real insight into life in Bangkok from Sugar who spoke about how life and what it’s really like to live in Bangkok. He also gave us some great recommendations for the remainder of our stay in Bangkok. I would 100% recommend this tour!!

  5. I just got back from the multi-day Bangkok Thailand to Siem Ream Cambodia tour. The exact name of the tour was “Biking Bangkok to Angkor Wat” The trip was AMAZING! SpiceRoads went above and beyond to make sure that the trip went off without a hitch. I cannot say enough excellent things about SpiceRoads. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. The excellent service started with the communications with Lu in the Spice Roads office. Lu was able to address the numerous email I sent and all of the questions I had. Lu helped me identify the perfect trip for what I was looking for. I was considering several different SpceRoads tours. Lu then went above and beyond in answering the numerous logistics questions I had (e.g. the need for insurance, passports, visas, what hotel to stay at the night before, etc…) With all of the information Lu provided I was extremely comfortable working with Spice Roads and that I chose the right tour. All of this communications was in addition to the information on their website and the standard communications they send to all trip participants. NOTE – Make sure to read the trip information that is sent to you a few days before the trip. It contains a lot of valuable information about the trip (how much money to have, the currency to use, where to exchange money, passport and visa requirements, a checklist of items to bring with you, and more.Lu then went above and beyond in assisting me with further travel arrangement to supplement my biking tour. Lu made arrangements for a car service to drive me from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh (a four-hour drive) and also offered to assist me with hotel arrangements in Siem Reap if I wanted to stay an extra few nights after the bike tour was over. On the first day the bike tour started with an unexpected 3-4 hour drive to get us out of the city. That was a little surprising as it was not mentioned in any of the documentation. Once we arrived at a Temple a few hours from Bangkok we got on our bikes and started riding. Throughout the ride there are two people from Spice Roads that are with you. The guide who will be riding with you and the driver who is following behind you in a van. The van contains your luggage, bike repair items, a spare bike, food, drink, etc… It is also there if you cannot go further you can jump in the van and they will put your bike in the back. This may be for a few minutes or for the rest of the day. This is all up to you as the rider. Out Guide Aum was a great guide we started riding and went through some beautiful areas. He took the time to make sure that we were moving at a good pace BUT that nobody was left behind. He also stopped several times to show us the sites (e.g. a rubber tree plantation, shrimp farm, fishing village, etc.. and allowed us to take photos. We only got to ride with him for one full day and a few hours the next day (until we hit the Cambodian Border) Once we got to the Cambodian border, we were handed off to the SpiceRoads Cambodian Guide and we received new bikes (the other bokes went back to Bangkok with the other tour guide). Huy was our tour guide in Cambodia. Huy and Aum were amazing guides and did everything they can to ensure a lifetime experience. Both tour guides ensured that we stopped at multiple places along with the to see the sites and experience the local culture. Some of the place Huy stopped at along the way included places to get bamboo stuffed with sticky rice, a place that was making rice paper that provided us with fresh made spring rolls, a place making banana chips, a person making Rice Whisky, a family making whicker handbags, and many more places. He had an immense knowledge of the local culture.Every meal was family style which allowed us to try many dishes. The guides would do the ordering of several different dishes to ensure that we tried different things. They also catered to our food requirements (e.g., I was unable to eat some of the very spicy foods). The hotels we stayed at every evening were NOT second rate. We were staying in very nice hotels and resorts every night. Breakfast was served at the hotel every morning and lunch and dinner were provided at restaurants every day. Keep in mind that lunch was usually at a local place while dinner was at a nicer restaurant. The trip culminated with us visiting the Temples in Cambodia at the Angkor Wat Complex. . These are big and beautiful, and everyone should see them, at least, once in their lifetime. We visited several Temples there included Angkor Wat and were provided enough time to see them and we did not feel rushed. For the Temple visits SpiceRoads utilized Temple Guides who are experts in the history of the Temples. There were a few hiccups for me on the trip. This was NOT an issue with SpiceRoads but rather the nature of a bike tour in this region. It is hot and humid there. Do not underestimate how hot and humid it is. An hour into riding I was drenched with sweat and had to change my Jersey. We also road in the rain which was not bad at all (it was cooling us down). I was not prepared for either of these items. Also be prepared for what to expect during the lunches. We stopped at local shops which are not what we think about when we think of restaurants. Think of them as several tables attached to someone’s house serving street food. It was good but just be prepared if you are expecting an indoor restaurant. It was not as if the tour guides were looking for these places, all of the stores and restaurants we passed during the tour places are like this. One area for improvement for Spice Roads is that they check the bikes and verify they are working 100% prior to the ride. They use Trek bikes, so they are quality bikes. In Thailand the bike was excellent. In Cambodia there was something wrong with my gear shifter that was causing the bike to sometime not shift gears when I pressed the button. I would have to press it again. I am looking forward to riding with SpiceRoads again. .

  6. We had a very positive experience in 2017 with Spice Roads in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. Based upon that experience, we signed up for their new “Riding the Columbian Andes” tour. Bad decision. Spice Roads classifies this tour as “Moderate”; it far more difficult and rigorous than moderate. I relied on Spice Road’s marketing instead of the data: daily elevation gain of 2500ft. Worse than the elevation are the “road” surfaces. I’d estimate 25% is paved; no problem there. The remaining 75% is rough and bumpy as hell; not what Americans percieve as a “gravel road”. In reality the “roads” are akin to a very poorly maintained Forest Service road: potholes and large rocks. Picture riding over cobblestones that are not evenly set: CONSTANT pounding. My wrists were killing me due to the pounding. We rented the mountain bikes with front suspension. Spice Roads claims this ride can be done with a gravel bike. Good luck with that! One would be nuts to ride without shocks. Even with shocks the surface was bad. Our guide rode a full suspension bike. I would be shocked if anyone from Spice Roads has actually cycled the route and would deem it “moderate” with a straight face. Spice Roads contracts this tour out to a local outfit. That outfit is not ready for “prime time”. The tour is “new”; consequently, it is replete with kinks. It was “Amateurs Hour” versus professional: lack of familiarity with the route, no pump in the support vehicle to fix flats, driver could not find a hotel or a winery for a tour even though he had GPS, poor time management (lunch at 3:30 or 4:00), minimal mechanical ability to fix bike issues on the road, absence of spare parts. One eye-rolling incident after another. A rolling clown shop. The accommodations were good. The guide was a great guy personally. The food so-so. The towns were enjoyable. The country is beautiful, but one cannot enjoy it on the bike because one’s focus is 6 feet in front navigating the stones and pot holes. The only people I can imagine enjoying this tour are hard core and very experienced mountain bikers who thrive on hills.

  7. My recent trip with SpiceRoads cycling through the Colombian Andes was my 8th Intl. cycle trip (one of which was w/SR). This last trip was without a doubt, by far, the winner as the WORST cycle trip I’ve ever been on!!! And, this is not about the place/country – I Love Colombia – this was my 4th visit to Colombia. Soooo many things were wrong about this cycle trip, but to be brief, it was contracted out by a relatively new local tour agency, led by a kind, yet very inexperienced guide, the itinerary was poorly organized, and we were penny-pinched, staying in cheap accommodations, and dining in cheap eateries (often whatever we could find, rarely planned ahead). They say that you get what you pay for , but in this case we got MUCH LESS. There is a market for budget adventure/active travel, yet we did not a pay budget travel fare, (actually our rate was on par with Backroads and Butterfield and Robinson and we were delivered much less). Furthermore, I contacted SpiceRoads after my trip with a more detailed report, thinking that they might care about customer feedback/satisfaction and considering that this was a new destination/trip in their program, yet after waiting for almost three weeks without a response, I believe that they do not care. In summation, I advise that you choose other cycling companies before SpiceRoads.

  8. The guide snd support team on our Hue to Hoi An bike trip were simply top notch. Out guide gave us more than the local sights, he gave us great insight into the history, family traditions, and culture. Plus the ride was fun, river ferries, water buffalo, back dike roads and rice paddies.

  9. Spice Roads arranged 2 bespoke tours in Phuket and Bangkok for us and I would like to say a big thanks to the whole team. Brilliant customer service and guidance from start to finish. Thanks to Don for the Phuket trip and to Nick in Bangkok. A 5 star experience

  10. Just rode the Sri Lanka Heritage by bicycle tour led by Sampath and the team. An great 7 day tour (5 days of cycling) brilliantly organised, lovely hotels, interesting food & sights. The highlight was the friendliness of the Sri Lankan people.
