Lalai Sap Market is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Silom Soi 5, Thailand
Lalai Sap Market seems like a much smaller version of Chatuchak weekend market except its opened during weekdays and not so much catered to tourists but very popular among local Thais. A little hard to find we had to use Google Maps to direct us there. Lots of mini stalls selling various items ranging from food, shoes, clothing and household items and all the vendors accept only cash. A lot of the food stalls do not have English menus so you may need to rely on pictures of you want to order food.
It is a small street crowded by shop around, very interesting for food and stuff but weather is toooooo hot!
Local market, need ibis styles, silom road, great prices, fruits, local cakes, clothes , lower prices than other markets and food stalls were good
I have been here many times on multiple trips. Staying near this market is my absolute favorite thing in Bangkok. Such a great sampling of fresh delicious food every morning. I would never eat a hotel breakfast catered to Westerners when this is nearby. It’s also good. It’s so colorful to look at the other stalls as well. Obviously, I cannot shop too much for fruit and vegetables since I have not living here but it’s exciting to see it anyway. Such a beautiful slice of life. It’s always amazing to try local things in Thailand and this is one of the best in this area. Don’t be afraid of the grungy location. That’s just part of life in Bangkok.
I stumbled across this market my last stay in Bangkok so I specifically chose the same area. I arrived on a Saturday and found out they only open weekdays. Don’t pay for breakfast at your hotel go and explore the foods the markets have to offer – it’s where the locals eat. Great selection of local clothing, not too much touristy stuff. Great food and a free great vibe they close around 2-3pm so get in early. Cash only
