  1. Skip Wat Pho and the crowd, (listed in every guide book as the Massage Temple) and venture to this temple that is well known by Thai people, but almost unheard of by English speaking people. Many massage schools and classes surround the Temple grounds. Great good luck bells. Remember a donation is expected if you ring the bell or beat the drum. Here you will find a part of the old and traditional Bangkok that most visitors think is a thing of the past. A traditional Thai massage from one of the riverside schools and massage shops is amazingly cheap. This may still be the least expensive place in all of Bangkok to get a traditional Thai massage. This temple is located down a narrow Soi that is lined on both sides with small massage shops. Very close to the Ramada Menam Riverside Hotel, but seldom visited by the guests from there. There is a boat dock, so if you are adventuring out on a fast ferry boat on the Chao Phraya River, this is an easy and convenient place to stop. I highly recommend this for an hour or two where you will get a feel for Thailand that is not possible most places in the bustling city of Bangkok.

  2. Around this local temple, there are many massage shops. Two are on the riverside beside the temple. Nice river view and best price. Reclining Buddha is there. Take a boat trip from Saphan Thaksin, and you can reach there in ten minutes.

  3. If you love massage but don’t like to be disturb by tourist and overprice placed such as wat Pho or somewhere else, please looking for your map to search for Wat Worrachanyawas วัดวรจรรยาวาส on Charoenkrung Rd., this temple has many local massage shop with reasonable same price 120 bath for hour, you can get there easily by ship stop at the pier in front of the temple. The temple was founded by lady Worrachan, who was the concubine of the king rama IV and her brother who was a interpreter in royal court, I went there on May 2017 and the main hall still in contruction but you can see the significant of pediment wooden craft. It’s really cool. There are also a local market inside the temple, rather untidy and messy but can give you an authentic feeling of Thai local.

  4. This Wat is close to my hotel so I came here for a Thai massage. It a real no frills massage 100 Bhat for 1 hour. It is part of the What and the Buddhist chanting in the background keeps you calm. Second flour near the water can’t beat it

  5. Nice local temple with a lot of Thai massage all around. Massage from 100 BHT. Get a true local experience and visit this place.

  6. This is a great alternative to Wat Pho. The buddha is slightly smaller but free to see and right next to the river. Theres a market and lots of Thai massage for 120 baht for 1 hour! So cheap. We had a massage and it was fantastic!

  7. A nice temple located directly at Chao Praya which is reached we a back street. Large reclining Buddha statue and small temple in a peaceful area.
