Santichaiprakan Park is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Khao San Rd. , Thailand
Bangkok is a busy, bustling city, full of traffic and people. So we were delighted to find this small park just a short distance from pier 13, the terminus of the Blue Tourist Boat. It overlooks the river, and is a perfect spot to sit down out of the heat and rest your weary feet. It’s on the way to Khao San Road, so worth a stop in this peaceful garden before you meet the crowds!
Santichaiprakhan Park is located not far from khosan Road right next to the river and Fort good place to relax or eat. Good photo opportunities
I was been there it was good views around this ,Just walking around and take photo in Bangkork …..
This little park was right next to our hotel and we walked through it every day. In amongst the madness of Bangkok is a little area of calm and was lovely. It is right by the river and has lots of shaded areas to sit and relax. The white fort is close by as well so it is an interesting little walk around this area. Unsurprisingly, there are lots of food stalls around if you get hungry!
There are few spots in central Bangkok where you can enjoy a green space with benches near shady trees along the river. This park near Phra Sumen fort is one of them. Often there is some breeze and most of the time it is quiet, except early evening when there is some fitness class with very loud music. Noise (or music through loudspeakers) is quite common in Bangkok’s parks. There seems to be no concept of ‘noise pollution’. Anyway Santichaiprakan park is usually quiet and peaceful. Quite a few Westerners among the visitors.Hope the restoration of the (park) temple will be finished soon.
For the first 30 days of my stay in the Banglamphoo district, I was staying near this park, along Phra Arthit Road, so it made it easy to go there and read my Kobo for relaxation. It has a wonderful view of the Chaophraya river and of the Pinkloa/ Rama VIII Bridge, a cable bridge which has won international awards (including a BC Engineering Award for excellence). It is about 3 acres of landscaping, houses a throne which is under netting right now for renovation, as well as Phra Sumen Fort, a historic white building built during reign of Rama I. This entire area the park is located, is named Banglamphu, for the bang lamphu mangrove apple tree that exists only as one or two left, on the edge of the river itself, right in the water. It is a beautifully landscaped park and well kept. There are many majestic old trees to provide shade. Locals love to come here to meet, sit, relax and talk. There are many park benches. There are many coffee shops nearby where you can buy drinks. The pier for the river bus is nearby too, for public transportation up and down the river.I have seen groups exercising evenings here when it is cooler, and there is also a stage where concerts can be played. It is a beautifully landscaped park with lots of seating. At one time bicycles could be rented from this park but I didn’t see them this time. On hot days, drink vendors and snack vendors abound. There is a canal on one side of it with many bars for drinking. Bangkok is called Venice of the East for their many canals throughout the city. The cable bridge seen from the park is symmetrical and beautiful to view. This park is very relaxing to visit. Many come to take naps here. Others just like to sit alongside the river and view the activity on the river. It’s a beautiful spot for meeting, chatting, resting, picnicking, reading. Along the edge of the river, there are also riverside walkways that lead to coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, the pier where the river bus picks up passengers.
Located in the same grounds as the Phra Sumen Fort, right next to the Chao Phraya River and a short walk from the Express River Boat stop Phra Arthit Pier.A peaceful park with lots of trees and the sound of birds chirping which successfully drown out the drone of nearby traffic. Many shaded areas underneath large trees so one is able to look across the Chao Phraya River. It seems the park is kept clean and tidy by a small army of sweepers going non-stop.Very relaxing, especially with a ‘Khao San Road hangover’.
This lovely park is the perfect antidote to the Bangkok heat and humidity, particularly very early in the morning when a breeze wafts off the Chao Praya river and maybe some welcome spray. People come here for jazzercise and tai chi or private yoga or just to take in the panoply of the river traffic. The fort and abutting canal provide plenty of scenic interest, the trees are beautiful and the manicured grass comfy. It is an island of serenity. After chilling here, go for a walk on the waterfront boardwalk to Phra Athit Pier. This park is my number one getaway in Bangkok.
A beautiful place to visit with loads of history Next to the river and very clean and loads of shade Loads of places to sit and chill
