This was another nice group of Khmer ruins. I saw this when I saw Prasat Ban Pluang which truly spectacular. These were nice ruins without many tourists.
Prasat Ban Phlai, Chuea Phloeng, Prasat District Surin 32140. Our family had hired a van and driver for a week around Prasat which enabled us to visit lots of cultural areas. This is about 8 kms from the centre of Prasat. We happened to visit on 5 December which is Father’s Day honouring King Rama IX. On this day everyone volunteers, wears yellow and tidies public areas. Not sure if there is usually a small charge to see this site. We were welcomed by the volunteers and left them to their industry while we explored the temple. Our 2 year old granddaughter happily explored and perhaps preferred the smaller size. There is a real sense of ancient calm about the place. Bring water, sunscreen and a hat. Be respectful of offerings that may be left at the temple.
It is great that this site is being preserved but at the end of the day it is not all that much to see. The ruins are far gone from making it interesting.

Great ruins over a 1000 years old, a bit out of the way and not very well preserved but worth a visit if you’re close by.
