Please do not support this place! I was on holiday in Thailand but also wanted to visit the elephant sanctuaries and animal zoos to see how they were being treated. Thailand has some great elephant sanctuaries but please beware of zoos like Samut prakan! There are tons of crocodiles way too many and they are definitely being raised for tourism, hunting, selling, skins etc. While I was there it smelled so bad the whole day, cages were not washed, they had pigs feeding the tigers!!! Why not just let the tigers feed their babies? It’s all a gimmick and sickening to see how they are all caged for the spectators enjoyment. They animals don’t even look happy. They had monkeys in cages screaming and crying and the cages were just covered with a blanket. They workers told me that they were playing…the sounds definitely didn’t seem like playing or like they were happy. There was even one monkey who was chained up in a diaper and had bleeding fingers. When I asked about the injury the worker said that he fell off the bike and then gave the monkey money. It was so odd. It made me so sad to see all the buses of tourists visiting from their hotels on tours. I wish the hotels would pick the good sanctuaries to support instead of places like this.
The park is a little rundown, but they seem to be constanatly working on repairs and upgrades. The price is right & the shows are great.
Lots of crocodiles! Seemed like too many in small spaces. Crocodile areas filthy including litter in the water.show was disturbing. Hitting crocodiles with big sticks. Couldnt understand anything. Performers trying to be funny. Arena very old and worn out. Disturbing small enclosures where two beautiful tigers were held in extreme heat. Took a small train ride around other disturbing small enclosures with small animals. Ended train ride touring garbage cans and building equipment. There was an opportunity to hold baby chimps in diapers and take a picture for a fee…we passed on that. Would not recommend this park.
We started the day by watching the crocodile show which was very good! But when we came out of the arena there was a lot of crocodiles! Signs say they send some back every year into the wild which is good! As we walked around the park we seen some elephants in a show, however afterwards we seen them with one foot chained to the floor which wasn’t nice to see, we then seen the elephant trying to pull its way out of the chain.
its an awful place. animal cruelty to max. poor animals in terrible conditions. please please don’t go.
It was a really sad experience. This place abuses animals, these people hit them with hooks and keep them chained. You can tell by the look in the animal’s eyes that they have lost their spirit and willingness to live.
This is a TERRIBLE place that is currently holding a beautiful elephant named Boon Mee in awful conditions. Please share this information and put these people out of business.
I bought a ticket and went there. But the woman in Reception desk said the travel agent didn’t pay for it, so she told the travel agent to check it out yourself. However our travel agent said it gave the money. I took a picture to report the woman and she suddenly had our ticket checked. We spent 20 minutes arguing outside in the heat. The elephant show was so much fun, but I wanted to report her. It was so unkind and rude. if you want to know her face. please ask me. I have a picture of her. I will let you know her face.
There are worse examples of zoo’s, they are in some ways trying to make the animals lives ok but the conditions for the animals are horrible. The elephants are chained, the cages are small. Horrible!
This crocodile farm is quite breathtaking even if it is not your favourite species of animal. It is well laid ourt and has an incredible number of crocodiles of all ages and sizes in different pens, together with a special area for hundreds of hatchlings. Worth a visit just for the experience.
