  1. Being a European ‘farang’, I am used to visiting wine houses in Europe, that make the extra effort to educate and entertain visiting tourists…………. visiting Chateau de Loei was a bitter disappointment. And I would not recommend it to anyone. The Thai here do not understand the quality most western tourists demand, and that’s a shame, and missed opportunity. Besides that, the wine they produce in Loei is okay when living in Thailand, but cannot compete with the Australian, European or American wines that I enjoyed before.

  2. A total waste of time. I was told they didn’t have any red or white wine to sample but they had bottles of the stuff for sale ! Try taking a cork out ! Nothing to see here although there were some vines to take photos of. The actual “Chateaux” is nothing more than an old run down building acting as a souvenir shop selling rubbish.

  3. In my opinion, the city of Loei has been neglected due to the popularity of the neighbor city Chiang Khan. It has a beautiful national park along Loei River and is free to enter. A paradise for someone who likes peaceful nature and a mid-sized city.Loei has everything from the airport to shopping mall as well. The only issue is that not many tourists, hence few accomodation options!! But the rates are inexpensive!!The food was also very good for my standard. Many stray dogs are real threats to tourists in my opinion.

  4. Took me ages to find the place as no signs in English. A lady from the local golf club took pity on us and took us there. It was very ramshackle, and being Sunday was basically closed. We were offered a tiny testing of one wine but were told that as it is low season that was it. We left after a few minutes

  5. I visited Chateau de Loei around 15 years ago. Back then, vineyards in Thailand were a new thing and I found the (un-) guided tour very interesting. Over the recent years, vineyards (mostly what I consider fake ones) are all the craze around Pattaya and Hua Hin. Meanwhile, Chateau de Loei has not made any effort to make it an attractive tourist attraction. Wine tasting and other activities for visitors appear to have a very low priority. As there is a reason why Thai wine will never win international acclaim, there really is not much of a reason why visitors should visit Chateau de Loei.

  6. Must try Home made ice cream, and visit the shop of agriculture product from Chateau de loei ex.Wine etc.

  7. We thought we might get lunch here as it was listed on the car navigator as a restaurant, which it is not. It’s a winery that sells expensive Thai wines, so being non drinkers and as the winery was closed we left. Not worth a photo as nothing worth snapping.

  8. As it was in February when we visited this winer, I was told that the grapes had all been picked so there was nothing to see. Just spent time looking around their shop in front of the winery where one could buy many of their products and maybe try their icecreams. So we just bought some of their wine and their macademias. Have to go back again at differenrt time of the year.

  9. We were expecting something more modern. The whole place seemed to be deserted at first.Maybe a good location to shoot a thriller. There was only a small shop, and we could only taste two of the 10 wines available in the shop.
