  1. I find the other reviews over rating and therefore misleading.I have just been back from Phu Kradueng, I spent there 3 days camping with my gf. She was sick so I carried mine and her back all the way to the camp, I didn’t find it that challenging. It’s definitively a long walk, 4.5Km uphill and 4.5Km in a plateau, but not that hard as other reviewers commented: if you are used to go to supermarket by foot, you will make it.It is the most quiet national park I have seen in terms of nature, not in terms of people that actually it is quite crowded: really few birds, none animal spotted, even really few insects (few ants too)… a lot of warning signal “wild elephant” but I couldn’t seen even one when I try to find them. Leeches are present though. The only views are from the cliffs, otherwise nothing.Facilities are poor and dirty considering to the high prices: entrance fee THB400, ten times the fee for locals, plus the THB30 per day for camping, usually I spend THB150-200 per day for a single room with private bathroom.Renting a tend is ridiculously costy, THB225 per day, but I bought a brand new one the day before for THB280. Renting mattress and duvet is expensive too.Food and water are terribly expensive in the park because they are carried by human-donkey: people carrying up 60kg on their shoulder, I saw such undignifying job only in Bolivian mines. The waterfalls are nice and the few kilometer stroll to visit them is pleasant, I would say the only worthy part, but do not expect anything spectacular.Better saying nothing about the annoying food sellers and the laud announcement speaker.

  2. The hike is on a big path but the sights off this path are not marked, and therefore you have to take a local guide who usually don’t speak any English. The views are decent, and there are plenty of beautiful flowers blooming. The dinosaur footprints are right at the end – 5 km – to the left (halfway where trail ends). They are not marked. There are about 7 to 9 prints of which 2 are very visible. It is not a long walk and quite pleasant. Easy with kids.

  3. It takes awhile to reach the summit, about an hour once you turn off the main road. The road is a little worn in some areas, not dangerous, just holes and in some cases, the asphalt buckled up enough it scraped the bottom of my car. The scenery is beautiful. We were told Bush Elephants do attack cars sometimes, especially blue ones, so be careful. We did see elephant dung often on the roads, but no elephants. Limited food available on the top. Worth a drive up. I liked it, even though the road needs some work.

  4. If you want to go to Phu Luang wildlife sanctuary head out on highway 21 from Lodi till you find the signage leading to the Park. It’s quite a drive and probably the best part of the trip. The road there is not to bad till you get to the checkpoint for the park, it cost 250 baht to take the car in with 2 people (Falang and Thai). 200 baht for the Falang. The road deteriorates from the there a few holes and ruts, a few dangerous hill crests and some very narrow sections. The sanctuary itself was very disappointing, we were warned to watch out for elephants but only noticed a few dung piles. The only animals we saw were one monkey and two chickens, very disappointing. At the top there was nowhere to buy water or anything. The views were quite ordinary as most of the time you can’t see over the tree line or on some paths you are just walking through jungle. I suppose if you are really into hiking and camping out it might appeal

  5. wild orchids bring the Thai flower lovers after Jan. Normally they have inexpensive rustic lodgings..and better accommodations as well. this is NOT a National Park so high tourist fees didnt apply. the food concession at the top is around double the normal price…so pack some food if you want to save money and dont litter the place with such trash afterward. (due to covid ….overnight stays have been discontinued for now) while we didnt see elephants we surely heard them….close by in the jungle and that was a thrill. The road is a bit steep in places so if your going by motorbike please be an experienced confident driver who can handle it. this place is for people who love nature and have a keen eye. not unusually spectacular but an interesting place to hike, some nice views from atop the mt, and for looking at wild flowers ect. If you do come across the elephants keep your distance, they have killed foolish people in the past who are too bold here. and yes be wary of leeches lower down the mt..my daughter had one in the worst of places. in order to see the protective orchid preserve on top, you have to pay a guide a few $ to show you all the hard-to-find species. well worth it if your into flowers. due to covid you must call before making the trip…to see if the road is open. it maybe closed during the rainy season May to Sept.
