  1. This temple is said to be dated from some time around the 9th century. It is beutiful, and a good place to visit. Avoid major festive days, as it can get very crowded. The park next door is used as a back-drop for photoshoots – very interesting to do some people watching.

  2. A trek from Khon Kaen but worth it. Hardly anyone about, not too hot, perfect for looking around. I took pleasure in banging as many gongs as I could, supposedly to bring good luck by waking the spirits. The spire had a gold cloth (as shown in the photo) which was being raised during the visit.

  3. In the centre of Na Dun stands stupa that is worth visiting. Large in its kind, covered with coloured cloth. Each Center of a wall of the base of the stipa has a Buddha statue in a different position. Locals pay merits by praying at each statue and offer flowers and incense sticks. The story tells of a farmer that was working his field before seeding and found a small stupa that was covered with gems. Inside a fragment of a bone…believed to be of Buddha. The local government decided to erect the large stupa to cover the artefacts.

  4. Another place to explore very holy Buddhist site so be sure to dress in proper etire there are sarongs there if needed…not a lot to see but worth the trip…..find a good guide as there is other places to visit along the way…and you can make a day of it

  5. Thris shrine is well kept and much visited. All round there are shop and places to eat. Worth a visit if you are passing through or in the area. A big park all round and lots of shade on a hot day. Buddhist days it can get very crowded but there is more to see on those days.

  6. This is a very famous holy place in Maha Sarakham. The stupa is very large and has a picturesque park in front of it. There are skirts you can use to cover yourself provided at the enternece of the temple if you are wearing shorts.

  7. Huge and gorgeous. The Stupa is located as the focal point of the area. You can get the amulet to pray at the shop near the Stupa. The silk and cotton clothes shop sells some clothes with reasonable price.

  8. It’s an hour travel from Roi Et airport or an hour plus from Khon Kean Airport. I would suggest Roi Et, as the province is quiet, and laid back.Lots of farm and plenty of nature, air is very fresh (perhaps it’s Thai winter season) and upon landing to the temple .. a sense of majestic peace.Like most large worshipping places in Thailand, you can pray and take your time walking thru the large area .. feeding fishes, taking pictures of nature’s best. Time passes by slower than city lives, and you will earn yourself a good sweat and loads of pictures. Along the way out, there are now a few modern eateries alongside the older ones, take your pick!

  9. This temple is very popular with the locals, The scenery is very nice. The original temple dates from the 8th century, but unfortunately only a few statues remain from that period. The stupa, although not that old ist beautiful
