Wat Thasung Thaksinaram is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 13190, Thailand
Wat Thasoon Thaksinaram is located in Ayutthaya province just adjacent to the Chao Phraya River and on the west bank. It is just north of the Pathum Thani/Ayutthaya province border. The wat has a couple of interesting attractions. Most prominent are the thousands of large, 5-6′ wingspans, fruit bats the come to roost during the day time in the trees near the back of the wat. Stroll among the trees while these animals rest and you are amazed the sheer numbers. At the very back corner of the treed area is an observation deck which you can climb to be literally eye-to-eye with the bats….very cool!Another interesting site to see if in the low pavilion hall located in the central back portion of the wat. Go inside and marvel at the amazing paintings near the roof line. On one side are the Buddhist hell realms and on the other beautiful images of the Buddha’s life.We often take our bike group from Nichada Thani (our village) to the Bat Wat for a day trip. It is about 75 km roundtrip.
