  1. To start with, his waterfall is incorrectly labeled on a popular mapping app as Thap Chang Waterfall. According to signs posted on site, the name is Klong Prao Waterfall, and just a bit down the road is Namtok Ngao Waterfall National Park. If you’re on the road between Surat Thani and Chumphon, this waterfall has to be on your list, a must-see. For me and my particular style, the place ticked all the boxes:Easy Access – Just 20 minutes from the main highway on well maintained roads. Good Price – Some places in Thailand charge 200 baht, perhaps to soak your feet in some cheesy hot spring. This place is the real deal and is FREE! Awesome Beauty – Climb down the series of steel stairs and see what I mean. Well Maintained – They spent some big money constructing the stairs, plus I saw very little rubbish along the trail. The day I visited, there were workers raking leaves and cleaning up rubbish. Solitude – I arrived at 10 AM and had the place to myself for 30 minutes before two other couples (quiet respectful Thai people) arrived. Other general notes: There is a small stand onsite selling drinks. The national park just down the road offers camping. This is intriguing and I may have to investigate next time I pass by. Sadly, I would not bring small children to the waterfall, as the stairs are very steep and a fall would be disastrous.

  2. I refused to go in because they charge 200 baht for tourists and 40 baht for Thai people. Not fair to discriminate like that
