Whilst this temple is not the easiest to find, it is certainly worth the effort and if you are in the Khao Sok/ Rajaprabbha Dam area, make the necessary enquiries and plan a visit. There is a large car park and to reach it, there is a steep, fairly loose surfaced track leading up to the entrance. A number of cars experienced some wheel spinning, mainly because of treating the track like a rally circuit…take your time and there’s no problem. It appears that construction is still taking place but when you stand in the car park and look around at the stupas and temples, some seemingly perched precariously on the tops of rocky outcrops, you will undoubtedly wonder how on earth the construction was achieved. It’s possible to get to the top, certainly of one of the stupas but, be warned, the steps are very steep in places although there is a hand rail which helps. The panoramic view from the top is certainly amazing. Having only climbed the steps on one occasion, we thought that their must be some super fit monks around! It’s certainly an interesting place to visit and wasn’t overcrowded even at the weekend. There is no admission charge and car parking is free. There are the inevitable food stalls by the car parks and toilets are available. We will certainly return to explore it further once we have recovered from those steps!
We was at the opening of the first temple in Thama Park some years ago since my wifes brother is the head of this temple area. We was invited to see the rest of the temple area, all of them from no 1 to 5. The most amizing temple which he said will be finished within 6 – 8 months was temple no. 5. The veiw over the total temple area and the landscape was amazing. We will recommand a trip to the park because it is an absolute attraction.
Khao na Nai is a wonderful temple area. The monk who had this dream to build this to honour Rama IX had a great dream. Five small temples are completed and they are working with the sixth. Three is left but I’m sure that the hole project will be finished. Great dreams make great persons, so we are pleased that this monk is in our family. This place is worth a visit, so take a time to do it. It’s only about two hours from Ao Nang.
Wonderful temple consisting of several hilltop buildings. Excellent atmosphere and positive energy. Amazingly beautiful views. Great place for meditation, reflection and feeling gratitude for the blessings of life.
An amazing climb to the peak, about 1K steps. Easy walking and didn’t feel tired. There are 6 elements. The 1st element is closed due to unstable rocks. Element 2 is on its own. Elements 3- 6 are linked. We took about 1hr walk, with stops to take photos and to enjoy the amazing view. It is free, but some donations into the donation boxes is appreciated. The elements/wats and bridges are built by volunteers and the locals also contribute the raw matetials. Work is still in progress.
