Car is needed to come here. I rented a cab so the driver figured out how to come here on behalf of me. Of course, this Village farm & Winery is one of the beauty of Wang Nam Khiao area. Foods and souvenirs are available as well as some scenery.
Liked the views. Easy to get to from Korat, (Nachon Ratchasima). Disliked places closed other than the week-end. More hills than expected.
Wang Nam Khiao is in the vicinity of Khao Yai, its full of all sorts of resorts and scenic vistas….and golf if you get over to Khao Yai. We didn’t stay at Village Farm and Winery for our couple of days visit to the area, but we did visit their restaurant and store of an afternoon. Don’t miss either, both are well worth the time to visit. The restaurant is an outdoor affair, very rustic, heavy picnic-table furniture. We visited during the week, and a bit past the lunch hour, and the place was all but empty. But its a big restaurant, and I sure weekends and holidays it is full up. My friend and I both ordered their tenderloin steaks, and I confess to overdoing my orders for the sides……mashed potatoes, the french fries and the sauteed spinach with garlic. The steaks were done to perfection (bear in mind that how we wanted them cooked was not asked by our efficient but rather grim-faced server, so they came just a shade past medium, sans any pink……this suits me fine, but if you want something other than that, don’t forget to tell the wait staff taking your order!), and sides were all very generous portions and very good indeed…..big plate of fries and a huge dish of the sauteed spinach. And we ate every bit! We stopped in the store after eating, and having had a taste of their 2011 Des Brumes shiraz-cabernet sauvignon wine from the sales person, we picked up a bottle along with what turned out to be very nice grape juice (sold in handsome wood boxes if desired). Bring your appetite, maybe a bit of mosquito repellant (they were about….), and enjoy the views of the surrounding vineyards and vistas over a delicious lunch. Recommended!
I visited the winery with my fiancé to look for wines for our wedding next year. The winery was almost empty, and rather disappointingly they did not offer any kind of wine tasting so it was somewhat of a wasted journey for us. There are definitely better options in the area!
