  1. I visit that area in may 2015,taxi from Khon Kaen cost 1600,-THB(there and back) almost for half day trip.Park have one visitor centre near lake, but if you want really enjoy rocky hills and walking there you must start your walking trip in other side of hills near Khon Kaen(local people easy explain for your driver where is it..).Entrance is around 20,-THB for Thai and almost double price for foreighners.Rocky formations are very nice, plenty walking trails but not so marking, better take your GPS,if you want stay overnight or walk in evening. In day time is orientation easy.Ther arent almost any big animals, even monkeys, which are very common in other thai national parks or city parks even temples.Long time ago was there tigers, big deers ,monkeys, now no more..Rare visible sometime small deers..In time of our visit was there plenty butterflyes, little bit birds…Interesting are Jungle chickens almost domesticates in park rangers station,in that station is possible food drink and camping..

  2. Nam Phong National Park is worth the 45 minute drive to experience this revitalizing escape from the city of Khon Kaen. Spectacular geographical features of monolithic sandstone boulders and rocks scattered across a mixture of native and exotic (eucalyptus) forest and grassland areas. The air cools as you walk the 10 minutes to the panoramic viewpoint of the lake and Ubonratana Dam. The mostly shaded trails are reasonably well marked with red arrows, though all signage is in Thai only. We saw butterflies, frogs, 20 cm long millipedes, 1 snake and a large spider.
