About Wat Suthat

Wat Suthat, one of Bangkok’s most significant temples, was constructed early in the 19th century during the reign of King Rama III. The temple is famed for its 25-foot-tall Phra Sri Sakyamuni Buddha statue, which stands majestically, drawing worshippers and visitors alike. 1. A great Buddhist temple in the older Bangkok area. There are many Buddha images and Buddhist deity statutes that can be acquired in the temple shops

  2. I went on 15 May 2022 (Vesak / Bucha Day). Temple have more people went for prayers. A very big temple and have many high steps. Entrance have a counter that ask for 100 bahts for “tourists” (give u an Eng brochure and a drink). The drink cost less than 100 bahts. 1 star down for this point.Wat Suthat is very famous for the Medicine Buddha (Phra Kring) amulet!

  3. Nice temple in the center of city. Many people have visited to make merit, pray, or meditate. It has it own unique architecture. Excellent!

  4. Last time I was here renovation work was underway on main temple. Whole wat now beautifully presented and had good fortune to visit where there was a special festival happening. Performances and artisans’ stalls showing exquisite work in wood, metal, cloth etc. Both temples are stunning Buddhas and painting on walls. Continue to be amazed at the level of detail in these places. Truly stunning!

  5. Absolutely beautiful and lots of culture to learn about and enjoy. Located right in the heart of Bangkok, this temple provides a simple view of many of the cultural aspects you can find around Bangkok.

  6. I visited Wat Suthat the last day of Songkran, actually that afternoon, and there were the remnants of the lovely traditional temple fair they had put on – very suitable, proper, and fun. The inner complex requires an entrance fee – from foreigners, not from non-Buddhists, which is legally fine but a bit of an issue if considered from the faith perspective. A very good, self-contained, vibrant yet peaceful place to go.

  7. This is an ancient and old temple. We can see the art of the 19th century. When we go to the temple, we have to take off our shoes.

  8. A beautiful old temple in the old part of town, off the main tourist routes. It is within walking distance (10 minutes) from Sam Yot MRT. Admission for tourists is THB 100 and the ticket office is at the main entrance of the temple, opposite the giant red swing. The temple is open until 9pm, so it can be visited in the evening in a quieter atmosphere. It is well worth a visit.

  9. Stumbled into this temple and it was one of my favourites. Gorgeous building and loved the marble courtyard and monk doing a recitation. Also much cheaper than Wat Po and Wat Arun at 100 THB. Close to giant swing
