  1. The Koh Nhai main beach runs on the east coast of the island. It is a little rocky at low tide, therefore swimming and snorkeling are the best at high tide when you can get into the water without cutting your legs with the rocks or corals. If you want to see my snorkeling photos I took here, visit the Snorkel around the world site.

  2. If you want to spend a few days doing absolutely nothing and watching the sunrise then this is the place, the beach stretches all the way down the island.very low key, Clear water, shallow and good. snorkelling on the reef is excellent. Resorts are along the main stretch of beach except for koh ngai resort and paradise beach. If you are staying at either of these 2 resorts you have to walk round or take a long tail boat. The walk is a cliff walk from koh ngai resort 10mins or a jungle walk 30mins from paradise beach, so choose carefully if wanting a choice of restaurants stay on the main beach as paradise Beach is very expensive for food and drink as you have no where to go once you are there as the walk would not be advisable at night.

  3. a beautiful beach with white coral sand which is safe for children and all adults with clear waters and great for snorkelling .

  4. No! It’s not like phi phi 30yrs ago…This is what they believe and claim. It’s just an overpriced destination without soul or vibe. For a start they we where all left on the Pier 30tpurists without information. Some staters walking on a non existing trail on the cliffs towards the resorts. Then after 25-30mim the people left on peir where picked up by a longtail boat. The beach is ok during high tide.

  5. We rented the scooter and toured the island a bit, we arrived at this really beautiful beach. There are several bars where if you consume, you can lie in the shade listening to music, and they are included in the price of the drink or snack. The sea is crystal clear and the beach long. Although we are under the Christmas holidays there was little gente.mi liked it so much.

  6. The beach is 2km long. At the northern end there has been clear erosion and the resorts have used sand bags and concrete to try and shore it up. There is no beach at higher tides and even at low tides what is left is covered in either sharp coral or breakdown from the shoring up. This is why I did not rate as a 5.However when you move down the beach you get white sand that is clean and usable. Moving to the southern end the hotels are bigger and the resorts come right to the edge at high tide with deck chairs overlooking. When you are in the middle of the beach the resorts are smaller and tend to have a bit more ground in front of the beach. The resorts are a bit more traditional Thai.Between 50 and 100m off the beach is a coral reef that is in surprisingly reasonable shape. There are lots of typical reef fish on it. The reef is wider and stronger in the north and middle of the beach and fizzles out as you go south. At mid to low tide you can walk out to the reef, use the sea to play games but it is a bit shallow to swim. As the tide comes in you can swim in a large area. During our stay the long tail boats were not high in number and were always on the lookout for swimmers. We did not feel unsafe.Overall our favorite part of the beach was the middle section. A couple of great resorts, some great restaurants, the reef was worth snorkeling on and the sand was find and ended in a nice tree-line rather than resorts. I suspect it does get busier at other times of year than early to mid December that we visited.
