  1. If the disparity between Thai and western tourist price wasn’t so great then I would give this place a much higher rating.I get that Thai people don’t earn as much on average as US westerners, but it just made me feel so ripped off in comparison to my wife that It put me in a bad mood while I was there. Other than that, I have to say it is a beautiful pla e to visit, and a real novelty to be have to wear a coat in the cold winter clymate of North East Thailand early in the morning. Its a good short hike with wonderful views across the valleys and plains of the thai/Cambodia border region.

  2. Due to blatant government greed I wouldn’t give 4 stars ….Beautiful spot but again the thai authorities seem to think a 10x price increase for tourists is acceptable . I fully understand Thais deserve to see their own country cheaper or free but this continues to be the norm here in Thailand and parts of Asia. If this pricing system was introduced in the UK or USA there would be and outcry of racism . Come on Thailand get your act together , your country is beautiful but overcharging tourists ten fold is beyond belief.

  3. This place is renowned for ancient carved images, and its spot to see the sunrise and sea of mist in the morning. Here is my experience about the place.Transportation: I went there by personal car. It is quite far from the center of the province, aproximately 1 km. (0.6 miles). It took me two hour driving to get there. I am not sure if there is any bus or public transportation heading to the place.Price: It is very affordable for me as a students and I think it is for everyone. I went there as a group and we paid only 40 baht each. It is very worth the money to see this spectacular view.Scenery: The view of sunrise in morning there was unforgettable. However, if you want to see when it is in the most beautiful position, you will have to be there very early like 6-7 am. otherwise, you will miss it and that’s the end of this trip. I was able to see it but it didn’t last long but it is beautiful. Apart from the sun, I’ve heard that you can see a sea of mist in Winter. Unfortunately, I didn’t went there at that time. So, I can’t confirm that.

  4. Decent place to visit with nice views and lots of history, both old and recent. If you happen to be in the area, there isn’t much else to do in Kantharalak. Sadly, there’s dual pricing. Foreigners pay 400 baht / Thais pay 40. This place isn’t worth 400 baht in my opinion.

  5. I went along for a day trip with my Thai wife and our kids and grandsons. It’s not far from our home where we’ve lived for 5 years. On arriving at the ticket office we were told that I would have to pay the 400B foreigner’s fee, even though I have a Thai ID card showing my home address in nearby Surin province. Luckily there was a very good restaurant about 2km down the road. The family dropped me off there and continued to the mountain top without me. My wife later said the view was not even worth paying the Thai 40B fee for. There’s a free panoramic mountain top view obtainable from the Chong Sangam border crossing about 30 km west of here. It has a nice coffee shop and restaurant serving good food and a free trail through the forest to a Buddhist shrine in a cave. All available with no racism.

  6. Amazing place to visit, we stayed at the phu view hotel nearby beautiful hotel to stay, get up early in the morning to go to the national park its 500baht for non thai nationals but we’ll worth it, 🏞️🏞️😁😁

  7. Foreigners must pay 400 baht fee vs 40 baht for Thais. Besides the double price system which sounds discriminating, there is only one cliff and the Cambodian valley downstairs to see. Absolutely not worth.

  8. I was on a thai one day bus trip, the only farang amongst the villagers. Thais pay 40 baht. I have paid 200 baht at National Parks but this was a new high (low?) of 400 baht The Thais on the bus all thought i was sticky when i said loudly “2 price Thailand”. They don’t get it, do they?Is it worth it? Maybe to see luckily the sunrise in the morning but not if it’s cloudy or foggy. The carvings are pretty interesting but hard to view as the gate ends just before them. Why nor protect them like at the Pa Taen NP paintings and let people see them straight on?Facilities and roads are good,, maybe enough farangs are paying the inflated entry fee.

  9. I am sure the lookout and park is nice.. But unfortunately on the day it was windy, cold and foggy, so I was not able to see anything, beside a monkey. Still it looked to be a nice park with a great view. I would go back to actually see the place.

  10. Its best to arrive before sunrise, so that you can join the hoards who are there to view sunrise over the Cambodian valley. Do get there in time to BOTH see first light and the actual Sunrise. To do so requires a drive through some seriously dark streets, but they aren’t crowded. The day we were there, a Saturday morning, I was the only Farang among hundreds of Thais. Its interesting to see how close this tourist attraction is to the places that the Thai army used to (seems they aren’t any longer) be stationed to defend from Cambodia (see other sites for the dispute a decade ago…its perfectly safe now).Though this is hot Thailand, be SURE to wear some warm clothes for the early morning.Worth a visit if you are in the general area. Probably not worth going too far out of the way (though we had done so).Strangely, we couldn’t figure out how to look down on the ruins that are just across the border. And to the many reviewers who have posted here whining about the ‘unfairness’ of being charged 10x of what a Thai is charged….I just say, chill out. The prices are still *QUITE* reasonable, considering that we make money in Dollars or Pounds or the like. This is how things are in Thailand. This isn’t America or the UK. Experiencing how another country/culture does things is a big part of the fun of travel.BTW, as another poster also pointed out…the price for *this* park was reduced to 5x – i.e. B200 for Farang.
