Sao Chaleang is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 34220, Thailand
It’s part of Pae Tam national park.. amazing how natures created. You can reach by car and walk around. Need little climbing to visit closely and see “Lan Hin Tak”, the divide stones which located a bit higher.
Visiting the Sao Chaleng is always a brief stop-over on the way to the historical site of Par Thiam. Most visitors drop in for a photo shot and continue with their journey. However this site has much to offer for keen photographer. This small site has various levels enable for the photographer and subject to get the various shots needed. Sao Chaleang is a dynastic place for visitor but great place for photographer.
We went to see this place, obviously it is the big Sao Chaleang. It was very very impressive what nature could do. The nicest thing was that we were alone visiting the site.
This is a great place to check out within Pha Taem National Park. The stone toadstools are quite impressive and you can climb around the area.
Easy to reach Sao Chaliang by car but there is nothing interested much. Only those stones which look like tree and view point but have to walk from that spot a few minute. Up there is big flat area where they call “lan hin thag” where can see big cracks of those big stones. BTW, for foreigner could plan to visit other spots in this national park to be worth the entrance fee 400 Baht.
Well worth stopping for 10 minutes or so as you leave Pha Taem national park. 3 very impressive gigantic “mushrooms” naturally formed from rock.If you want to see this on a grander scale, go to Phu Pha Thoep National Park, near Mukdahan.
Nice place to stop during the trip as it’s so amazing and can be a nice stop to take cool pictures, better take a little walk around the area.
VERY expensive to see these rocks, i recommend to go near the Mekong (Magic) below the National Park and FREE
Interesting rock formations within Pha Taem National Park. If you are planning to visit the national park for its other attractions (well worth the admission price), then it is worth a few minutes to see the Sao Chaleang rock formations. Otherwise, it is not worth paying just to see.
Pha team park this stone mushrooms formation is picturesque and easy to visit with a car. Just 4km from the visitor centre and the R2112 park entrance. A nice short walk
