Dok Krai Reservoir is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 21180, Thailand
Dok Krai Reservoir, 30 km to the north of Rayong City, is one of three reservoirs providing Rayong’s water supply. The others are Nong Pla Lai Reservoir and Klang Yai Reservoir.Dok Krai is the smallest of the three reservoirs, but because it is the closest to Rayong City, it is the most popular with locals, particularly at weekends.We went on a Sunday and saw lots of people fishing, not only for fish, but in the shallows at the edges of the reservoir for frogs.Others had bought a picnic and had spread out mats on the trees near the reservoirs shores.There are also several restaurants around the shores, with some of them extending over the water with somewhat precarious walkways leading to small chalets sitting on stilts in the middle of the lake. Again, being a Sunday, these all looked very busy.Although I do not know the details, the reservoir is also the site of agricultural and scientific research projects.
A charming lake surrounded by trees.Vibrant with activities when we visited at the weekend, like fishing and watersports tye latter we enjoyed doing as a family surfing behind a boat, located on the lake with rooms on stilts over the water, a western run resort, couple with a family on the lake serving wellness celleur food that my children with us amazingly loved.We had use of paddle boards which we explored the lake and Thai restaurants having a lively music presence.We were informed it’s where many Thai buisness people go, with live bands in the evening. Its set in a kings project region with a fisheries to stock the lake with a varied of fish for the local fishermen to catch that sell to the local markets and restaurants. There’s a damn wall which gets used by people exercising cycling, running with a delightful looking building selling organic produce various shops and coffee. When I visited they were in the process of building a museum with a revolving restaurant look out over the lake high up.The water sports place we visited was called wakeboarding Thailand set in the king’s project of eucalyptus trees to eradicate mosquitoes. It has charming walkway leading out to a thatched chill area, alfresco eating area and yoga area, a place I am looking forward to returning to stay on the lake amongst the trees and vibrant bird life. They can be followed on Instagram Otzki wake camp.In conclusion it appears to be a vibrant area of people enjoying life with a development towards Thai tourism so you get a nice escape to the feel of Thai life compared to living in the city that has a western style life.
